The issue on this is how much Kane gets. If he is found to have operated out of agreed conditions then a termination may stand. If not the SJ is in breach of contract and will have to pay the entire contract amount could be pursued in arbitration. This will likely cost SJ this years salary in cap hit and then the buyout amount in future years. The league is investigating due to SJ’s hardline stance puts them on a collision course with the PA. The league has to solve this soon as they need to make sure they do not obstruct this process.

Kane literally could get his full salary plus what he gets from the new team in a best case scenario.

He could but the odds of that happening are probably less than 1%.

Seems like a deal can be made, over the contract terminated. As long as all parties negotiate and agee, anything is possible.

It's like this.....I'm an Oiler fan, desperate like mcdaddy, to make some kind of run for the cup. We have no chance as it is, so Kane is like a lottery ticket (hmmm). We need miracles here in Edmonton !

whatever happened to the pointing a loaded gun at his wife narrative?

how is this tool still sought after. blows my mind.
That was already proven to be false through their lawyers . She had saved videos from a photo shoot done a few years ago and posted one of him with the prop gun, but then did not post the audio of the video to go with it, she instead posted a caption of her own to change the narrative. Do you really think he would still have custody of his kid if there was a video of him threatening his family with a loaded gun? lmaoo.

Same thing with the claims he was gambling on his own games and throwing them. Investigation was done and they showed that was false as well. She seems to be more worked up that he lost all their money gambling and has been seeing other women and was throwing as much at him as possible hoping it would stick. Neither of these individuals seem to be that stable. Feel bad for the kid

There was speculation in the OP of Tampa, Florida and Edmonton. One is not like the rest. We can speculate whether the Florida teams have indeed thrown their hats in or is it wishful thinking on Kane's part. lol!
A Tampa writer tweeted that the Lightning were considering it but pulled out

Why have the Oilers not announced the signing yet?

They might be worried and have buyers remorse before closing. I mean, what previous NHL team that Kane played on that ended well? I cannot think of one.

Plus, what officiating squad likes Kane?

And finally, Kane is not known as Mr. Playoffs. Made a good start early, but disappeared from there on out.

November 2021 Pacific Northwest floods - Wikipedia

Look at the map. The entire f***ing province flooded.

How would he know the extent of the damage without taking the essential travel trip to survey it? I sure as shit would be making the trip as soon as possible, personally.

Flooding happened Dec 14th. His last game before Christmas was on the 21st where he tested positive. He flew on the 28th, after both the CDC mandated 5 day quarantine and the British Columbia mandated 7 day quarantine.
I live in BC, and unless his house was in the Fraser Valley or up North or East. His house was fine. The Fraser Valley got it real bad, which most likely is where his house is. But they got it real bad in the end of November beginning of December. This is just an excuse for him. If he owes all that money, it's pretty surprising he hasn't sold his house to cover some debt. Also his family lives in Vancouver, not in the Fraser Valley.

I don’t really get the Edmonton over Florida argument for increasing his next contract(which will be a mistake).

Yes he’d play with McDavid in Edmonton but Florida is filled with talent and they could sell Florida with a mix of Barkov, Huberdeau, Reinhart, Bennett as his linemates non stop.

Gm’s love players who are seen as playoff players. Nobody is expecting Oilers to go far in the playoffs.
So if he goes to Edmonton he is looking at less games and smaller stages to set him up for his last bigger contract.

Set yourself to have the best playoff run possible.

Also take yourself out of the ”but he put up the points because of McDavid” argument on contract negotiations

Not a fan at all of him but just don’t get that argument

If this violation was serious enough to void his contract, why would the league allow him to sign another? It makes little sense. If his action was so bad you would think he would be barred from the league.
Or he would just get a 5-21 game suspension and the league wants to make sure teams are aware of that before signing.

Breaking a rule doesn't mean you should be banned forever. See laws for example.

Anyone know if NHLPA can file a grievance on a NHL imposed suspension if it happens? Did Kane challenge the previous 21 game suspension?

His top 3 choices make sense:

Florida, Alberta.

Pick the most anti-vaccine/anti-lockdown places in their respective countries.

I still don't see why he'd pick Edmonton but he's made a ton of dumb decisions lately, so it's par the course.

Typically, suspensions go through the appeals process but Kane didn't appeal the 21 game suspension so far as I'm aware.

He should try to go to the leafs. Dubas would probably give him 5M. We all know his track record with contract negotiations

Are you seriously chirping after your team just signed those brutal Hyman, Nurse, Ceci, Kassian, Koskanen, etc contracts?

Yikes.

It's okay.

Edmonton stole Zach Hyman from Toronto for 5.5M. Sure, Michael Bunting is outscoring him for 950K... but the children's stories he reads after every loss is well worth the 5.5M

That has nothing to do with his decision, lmfao

How do you know?

The man literally got suspended 20+ games for faking a vaccination card but anti-vaccine mandates have nothing to do with his decision? None whatsoever?

"Happened to"? None of these incidents "happened to" Kane, either
Doesn't change the point that was made. If any other player without a long-running high salary contract on their roster misbehaved in a similar manner, they don't get their contract terminated. It was a financially beneficial move for the San Jose Sharks. And it was the only reason it occurred.

Peel on TSN1260 saying that Kane was signing this morning but the league started the investigation as mentioned by Friedman. Holland was on the phone with Daly about it
