LeBrun is the guy whose like a mouthpiece for players and agents, right?

Tampa and Florida are both hotspots for free agents and deadly cup threats. If Kane's camp was going to lie about interest from two teams, it'd be them.

Kane's number one goal has got to be racking up as many points as possible in order to get a new contract this summer. Automatic top 6 time with McDrai makes sense for that. Trying to earn minutes with the Sunshine State's forward group doesn't make sense for that.

Either way, if Zito is actually interested, I'm okay with it. Thornton and Reinhart were teammates of Kane's for years. If they vouch for him and don't think he'll be an issue, then come on down I guess.

What kind of bad hockey team is going to offer him a lot of money just to trade him later on? Why wouldn't Kane just have his pick of the team instead of relying on a different team to trade him to a contender?

I see zero incentive for Evander Kane to do anything like that.
The idea the other guy was floating referred to getting some picks back, that is their incentive.

As for Kane's incentive, I thought I said that? He could in theory get more money from a worse team with cap space and he could pick which contender (or 2 or 3) he wants to go to later in the season once he knows how the teams are doing closer to the playoffs. Say he picks Edmonton and they are still in the hunt at the deadline so they keep him but then end up missing the playoffs.

Anyway, it's not going to happen but the idea has some merit.

No risk signing, if he makes your team better than you should.

I'm not capable of judging others, we have trained professionals being paid by taxes to do that work.

If he is outside of jail and hasn't been convicted of anything, then should let him play

Use google if you need justification for that claim, this guy is in the news every week. Do you honestly believe a locker room incident with a teammate makes you a worse person that faking a vaccine card and then travelling on a plane when you know you're positive? Knowing you could be contagious but not caring because you want to go see friends and family isn't a "bad lifestyle choice" - it's extremely unethical and selfish.

There are clearly locker room problems with Kane. His own team mates don't want him back, and he was their leading scorer. Also, as a Jets fan you must be aware of the problems he had there.

Ok thanks, I was just asking for some justification

Everyone remember our other stopgaps?

Russel on a 1 year.. who liked the next contract?
Chiasson on a PTO.. who liked the next contract?
Smith on a 1 year.. who likes the latest contract?
Kassian on a nice trade.. who liked the extension?
Barrie on 1 year to 'bump his stats with the greatest players in the world and sign elsewhere'.. who likes the latest contract?
KK on a 1 year contract.. who liked the 2 year contract?
Shore on a PTO.. who likes the 2 year contract?

You’re saying he couldn’t offer more than a 3rd for ned? So he tried to get a starter but wasn’t willing to pay more than a 3rd for a starter

i think the answer is he only tried the ufa market and didn’t bother trying to trade for a goalie until the carousel had stopped

I don't know where you're getting this from what I wrote. He tried, but failed to get a goaltender. So he realized the Oilers needed one but couldn't make a deal. That is an indictment of Holland as a GM. Are you just looking for a reason to get mad at someone? I am hardly a Holland apologist.

Oilers have nothing to lose and everything to gain if he ends up signing with them for half a year. I'd be more hesitant of the signing if I was a Panthers or lightning fan, but I don't see any real risk with it. If he f***s up again he's on waivers and it's around 1 mil

Ok but like Kane can easily sign somewhere else after his 1-year. He’s not destined to stay on the Oilers. I think Holland understands this.

I say bring it. Oilers are in a downfall anyways; so they either keep falling or perhaps Kane boosts the team up a bit. I think it’s worth the gamble. It only spices up the BoA more anyways lol

Since he hasn't signed right away and there may be 3 teams interested, I think he gets more than a one year 1 million dollar deal.

I thought Kane said contenders?

Kane is in a mess and got contenders mixed up with pretenders . He was probably drunk or maybe someone sent a few guys to collect on a gambling debt and he took a few head shots . Hey he was right on 9 out of 10 letters . Pretty good for a guy in his condition .

His list

Tampa
Florida

He wanted to go to Vancouver, so Edmonton makes sense with the somewhat close proximity
