NJ certainly is in need of a winger with size

not sure he'd want to come here though and not sure management would welcome him

i know i know its business blablabla

but a locker room cancer is a locker room cancer. Unless the team is far ahead of the competition (which the Oilers are not), these guys might well be net negative.

he's gonna score tons I'm sure. He's gonna look great too. But I sure hope the Oilers are not gonna go through a rough patch.

the worst? Like a cancer, they don't know wtf is wrong

Plenty of locker room cancers has won a cup. Players from Eddie Shack to Shanahan (although shanny was probably not a cancer when he won).

My Prediction

Kane does amazing in Edmonton. Gets a huge contract in the summer to stay there. Proceeds to destroy the lockeroom next year and has to be moved or bought out.

Edmonton won't have the cap space to afford his next deal if he comes in and rips it up.

My biggest prediction out of Kane if he is to sign in Edmonton, it's the straw that breaks the camels back. I'm talking McDavid leaving the Oilers and the team going into a blacker hole than they already are in.
Because certainly the team wouldn't consult McDavid on possibly acquiring Kane before signing him.

Can’t wait for the , I can’t believe I was wrong about Kane !! He really has been awesome with mcdavid ..
That always lasts for the first year. He tends to behave like a choir boy the first year to prove he is easy to get along with and a good teammate. But you can usually sense when the monster is circling just waiting to emerge a year later. On the sharks it was when they were like "uh, could you stop taking stupid penalties and hurting the team?" and he responded by taking way more than ever before in his career.

How about Timo Meier? He is one of Nico Hischier's swiss buddies and sources on the sharks board also say his best friend on the Sharks last season was Mr. Kane himself.

why would the Hurricanes risk a season thats going so well?

Evander Kane can ... you know, play hockey pretty well. It's a skillset a contending team would like to add..

I promise you that Kane will be a model citizen for the remainder of the 2021-22 season as long as he's on a winning team... he's absolutely worth the risk right now for a low-dollar contract, and even if he does become a pain in the ass you can exile him all over again..

It's all reward, no risk to sign Kane to a contract for the rest of this season.. now committing to him long-term? Right now? Not a good idea..

Apparently McDavid was pushing for Kane. Good hockey player terrible judge of character and terrible taste. Have you seen his house?

Why would he pick the oil
If the florida teams are available… no tax. Full arenas. Better teams.

Does ju case change if he makes money outside of the us?

Maybe McDavid thinks the team could improve by getting Connor Bedard and Shane Wright. :sarcasm:

All jokes aside, if the Oilers sign him I lose full respect for the club because you can't get that low. Could say the same about Tony Deangelo, but Kane has done enough to get himself booted out of the league.

One reason could be to put up points with McDrai and then cash in in the summer

It’s holland he will trade keith with a 1rst to make room lol

Holland never moves his 1st, least not since the salary cap came in. I actually wish he would move one to add to the club right now.

As for Keith, hoping he retires at season's end. Edmonton could offer a front office position to him. He's really slowing down and that's 7.4 off the books his 5.5 and 1.9 in additional cap due to his recapture. The possibly is there at the least.

Keith's cap is 5.5 and his base salary is only 1.5. His deal was front loaded with signing bonuses. Club could offer him double the salary for his final to move to the front office. I've had people tell me he won't retire at 5.5 yet they failed to see his contract structure.

Most of Kane's stuff has just been dumb personal stuff though, rather than more dangerous or reckless actions that would merit getting kicked out IMO.

That's what I dont get. I understand that those Florida teams want to add high end talent for cheap, but they are well oiled machines looking at prepping for a cup. Kane brings some uncertainty and chaos. Our team could use a shake up. Most of all, the team needs some positivity. Adding Kane helps the team and gives a fresh start for everyone and distracts from the other drama on the Oilers atm

ie Oilers fans want any player of name value no matter the cost or repercussions. But it’s always management and coaches fault. I’ve seen so many arm chair QB Oilers fans who say every player under the Sun is always a fit with the Oilers.

Hopefully whoever the next clueless old balls washed up Hockey Man that hasn't been relevant since the 90's is that we hire as GM can fetch a decent return for him.

There's no way he's going to a Canadian team. Someone who gets into as much trouble off the ice as this guy doesn't want to be under a magnifying glass, and besides, down in florida is a great place to be as an antivaxxer. He'll fit right in.

I know nothing about Edmonton but I do know South Florida.

There are a LOT of places and ways you can get yourself into hot water off the ice in South Florida. I mean...a LOT.
there's literally a casino attached to the arena in edmonton
I'm not taking a shot at Kane here, but he literally has had a gambling problem. The Oilers are going to need to lay down some ground rules if they are offering him a contract.

I really don't know if Kane will make a complete change in his life. The oilers have been able to help some players turn around. I really hope this works out for him and I hope he does. But I'm not optimistic given his track record.

If this is a low risk 1 year contract gamble, I'd be okay with it. It would work for Kane as it doesn't commit him to Edmonton (which I'm sure isn't his first choice) but almost certainly guarantees him prime mins with either Drai or McDavid which means lots of points and increasing his stock to sign a new contract with a new team in the summer.

You going to say the same thing about Zito and the Panthers if he goes there?
