Well right after that and as the Brighton player is aiming to restart with the FK, Rice taps it away thus delaying the restart (and getting kicked in the process) which by rule is a yellow. I’m more concerned with consistency — Joao Pedro not getting the yellow for kicking away in the first half. Also, you can clearly hear one of the Brighton players calling for a second yellow as the Rice incident happened, which should also be a yellow by the laws.
Wasn't the first half incident a throw-in? And you could make a claim he was trying to keep the ball in.

"WHAT'S THE POINT OF ANYTHING?!" Definitely stealing that.

Didn't kick the ball.
Are you blind? Yes he did. And then picked out up
Also no card:

Do the rules specify that you can only delay a free kick? Could make the claim that rice was trying to return the ball to Veltman who had accidentally kicked it at rice.

Video no longer works. I thought there was some confusion about who got called for the foul on it. Slightly different situation. Do agree on the consistency of the calls but also two wrongs don't make a right. Could be the ref got reprimanded for not giving cards for those situation and then called them correctly in the 2nd. :dunno:

Then and there
Haaland looks a bit chubbier than I remember, but he has again started the season red hot like last year.

When he had to sit a bit last year, they had Alvarez to pick up the slack. Wonder if they can do it as a collective this season, if needed.

More FA corruption, but I'm not surprised. Pedro able to kick the ball after the whistle in the first half and not receive a yellow. Then Rice does a small nudge, second booking. Look at this hypocrisy? I'm not doubting that Rice moves the ball, but the corruption is outstanding how one gets punished and the other one doesn't. Refs make themselves stars.

Now with that said, Arsenal lost because a lack of finishing and not because of the ref. Odegaard should have scored, no excuses there. Havertz should have done way better on his chance in the second half. Saka should have scored in the first half. Arsenal played Brighton off the pitch and this is where Arsenal will lose another title @bluesfan94 . Man City can play like shit and still win games because they have a world class striker. Arsenal scores by committee but not one of our players has strong finishing skills and why a #9 has always been needed. No excuses whatsoever to finish that game with only one goal with the chances we created today. Shambolic. Title has been lost.

PL has made it an emphasis to not mess with free kicks in recent years. Rice would have been fine if he just walked, but he knocked the ball away. Might be harsh, but it’s been a point of emphasis recently.
@bluesfan94 is right in his original premise though. The ball was moving, which means the free kick would have had to be retaken. That means the ball was not a live ball even if it was nudged away.

Imagine being such a bonehead that you kick the ball away on an opposing freekick, not to mention faking injury a mile away from your own goal while you're already on a yellow.
