I’d be interested to see a breakdown of runs prevented vs. runs allowed when they should’ve been outs when you pull the infield in.

We have to win almost all our remaining games. The Yanks and Sox are not losing going forward.

Palmer just threw his 2nd 7 inning no hitter of the season for Dunedin. 9 K's, 2 walks
The whole Buffalo box score is a wonder to see.
Zach Logue was good again in Buffalo yesterday. And Addison Barger got promoted to advanced A.

Remaining schedules:

Yankees
Home games: CLE x3, TEX x3, TB x3
Road games: BAL x1, BOS x3, TOR x3

Red Sox
Home games: BAL x3, NYM x2, NYY x3
Road games: BAL x3, WSH x3

Jays
Home games: MIN x3, NYY x3, BAL x3
Road games: TB x3, MIN x4

So Boston has Baltimore for 2 more series and Washington for one. I'd be pretty surprised if Boston screws this up. They have the easiest schedule by a considerable amount just because of all of those Baltimore games.

NY has a harder path to the end the year but Cleveland and Texas are all winnable games for them so they could position them selves well.

Toronto has 16 games left and may have to go 10-6 for 92 wins to get in if these teams keep winning. 6 more losses allowed with the Twins 7 times, Yankees 3 times and Rays 3 times and O's. It's going to be a big challenge right here. I could see this going to the last couple games of the year but I think Boston will get in with Toronto and NY fighting for the last spot.

That series win was huge. With so many games against weak teams going forward, and only 6 against tougher teams, the Jays are in a very good position.

*Blah, but it appears the Ys and RS' have pretty easy schedules going forward too. Not quite as easy, but still easier.

Wonder if it’s time to cut bait on Soria. Who’s up next? Castro?

What happened to AJ Cole? He doesn't look awful in AAA so far, and I'm not seeing anything about a DL stint in his profile.

And wow Biggio absolutely killed it today.

tbh this is one of the best seasons and teams i have ever witnessed for this franchise. To think that we might not even make the playoffs is a testament to the ridiculousness of MLB playoffs. This is why MLB is going to lose viewers and revenue compared to the NHL and NBA.

16 GR need to go 9-7 to make the playoffs (91-71).

Schedule:

BAL x 3
TB x 3
MIN x 7
NYY x 3

I predict we will go 9-7 in our last 16 and finish with a record of 91-71 and just might squeak into that last WC spot

2-1 vs BAL
1-2 vs TB
5-2 vs MIN
2-1 vs NYY

I think we get in based on the fact that we have 2 games in hand on Boston. Theoretically from this point on they have less opportunity to make it to the 91/92 win threshold

??? If baseball had a bloated 8 team system like other sports these games would all mean nothing. The gap between the 8th and 9th seed is six games.

This is the perfect illustration of why a more restrictive playoff system works.

It's an interesting topic, IMO.
Playing all year for a one game playoff doesn't seem fair and kind of anti- climatic. At a minimum it should be 2 out of 3.

I think it needs to be expanded further so all teams play in a 1st round.
Top two from each division plus two wild cards.

The way it is now does make it easy to be a bandwagon fan though, which I am 100%.
Typically by August I've lost all interest and start thinking of the NFL.
