Can we get cliff Floyd back for studio analysis? Shift siddall into the booth in the color spot with Dan and maybe a Floyd & Ricky Romero combo to handle studio duties with Jamie? That'd be nice.

honestly, getting dumped for being childish about vaccines would be the perfect ending to Buck's jays career.

Ehhhh ... I'd be a bit sad if it ended that way. As much as he's gotten annoying the past few years, the guy bleeds Blue Jays and I can't be vindictive. In a perfect world, he's a guy who contributed a lot and who deserves a nice send-off rather than a career suicide by stupid beliefs.

He was a terrific colour guy back in the 1990s when he was recently retired and in touch with the game and how it was perceived at that time. But people get old and the sport changes and you can either be flexible and open-minded and adapt and learn ... or you can dig in your heels with a 'back in my day' mentality. And unfortunately he's done the latter.

He still does some things very well. I've said this a few times, but Buck/Pat's discussions about game-calling and pitch selection and batter adjustments are outstanding. When I'm watching some other broadcasts that just have a vanilla superficial description of balls and strikes, I notice the difference and really appreciate what they bring to the table there. Unfortunately it gets buried under a barrage of one-knee catchers, rants about how the game is today, hyping of RBIs and wins as important stats, and George Brett.

I like Buck and respect all the work he's done for promoting the Blue Jays in Toronto. He has an obvious love for the city, it's people, and the team. I would prefer he and Tabby be moved into a part-time guest segment role after this season. MS's suggestion of Shulman and Siddall is a great pairing. Bonus in having two Canadians that naturally understand the country and complexities,

Years of Brandon Morrow oblique/ab injuries have scarred me. Assuming you guys are right.

Just got my playoff tix hopefully I can use them!
Do you have to provide a covid test on top of the vac documents. That’s what I heard

I genuinely don't care as much about his beliefs as much as his inability to call a game. He cannot see what is going on and it is getting worse.

Tabby and Buck have been the backbone of our tv broadcasts for years. Both past players that bring perspective to the game based on experiences as both a player and manager (Buck). I really dont get what the hoopalla is about replacing any of them. I feel they have done a standup job and I personally enjoy the insights they bring.

Even if you brought in some of the replacements mentioned like Romano or Floyd, they both will bring the same perspective as former players. The way I see it we arent the only MLB team that has oldtimers as tv or radio voices..... teams generally stick with them for the long haul. I think we should as well.

This. Who cares about what he believes or doesn't believe. It's about his ability to do the job, and he's slipped badly this season.

Nope. ID + proof of vaccine is fine. Negative test is good for now too but that is going away for playoffs.

Hopefully we can see the stadium filled for playoffs. If the vaccination is being pushed so badly there shouldnt be a problem right!!!! The stadium should definitely be a safe haven with all vaccinated people, shouldnt it?

The hoopla is that they aren't that good. Between curmudgeonly grousing about basically any advancements in the game that have happened over the last 25 years, the increasing number of mistakes and questionable calls, and the fact that Buck just isn't that good as a play-by-play guy because he's a color guy miscast in the role for the last bunch of years (not to mention how frequently it seems like the two of them aren't listening to each other and end up repeating the same stories or comments entirely separately within the span of a few minutes. And that's not just something that's the result of working remotely. They did it in previous years while in the same booth), it's just getting more tiring to listen to them call games.

Yes, the Youtube games proved it could be a lot worse. But it could also be a lot better. Those other teams that stick with their broadcasters long term usually do so because they're good and popular (even if it's only locally such as the interminable old White Sox TV crew). But Buck/Pat seems to be both bad and generally divisive at best and mostly disliked at worst.

Dan is one of the best play-by-plays in the business. Siddall is an excellent Xs and Os and analysis guy. And as a former catcher he can do all the stuff that Buck does in terms of positional analysis. Floyd is familiar with the Jays and Jays broadcasts from the previous few years and he's excellent at breaking down hitting. Romero doesn't have a ton of experience yet, but he's an ex-pitcher a reasonably popular ex-Jay, has been decent in his limited run both as an analyst on Vancouver Canadians braodcasts and a studio guy with the Jays, and could grow into your long-term in-house pitching guy.

I just don't see the downside.

Shulman/Siddall in the booth

and a combo of Campbell and one or both of Romero/Floyd in the studio. Plus you can occasionally bring in extra guys for bigger panels like John Axford, Justin Morneau, the media guys, etc.

The biggest roadblock would be that Shulman has a lot of US national commitments, but the lack of overlap between the MLB season and stuff like college basketball should help alleviate some of that.

I mean, most of that is the fact he's doing it from a TV monitor. Shulman is one of the best PBP guys alive and even he was struggling with it earlier in the year when he wasn't in Buffalo/Dunedin.

If he isn't going to be in the buildings next year, he should 100% be gone. Absolutely.

Quick 3-0 1st inning lead. Looking like one of those games again!!!!

I dont think it sat nicely overnight for the Jays that they were shutout. LOL

Based on that Shulman discussion, seems like the Jays are setting up to skip Manoah to get Berrios and Ray (plus one of Ryu/Matz) pitching against the Yankees.

Still not entirely sure why you're pushing back Manoah instead of Ryu to get that to line up, but I'm also not surprised.

Agreed. He's an old man who has been a huge addition to blue jays baseball. I dont care at all about his medical conditions or records.

As ive mentioned I think buck, Dan and pat are the best combo in baseball. The knowledge is unmatched and the amount Pat calls exactly what happens next is great.
Granted idk who the top guys are, the games I put on almost always seem to have the most annoying and or boring announcers.

However the 6 in a row i think buck and pat just did definitely was a bit much.
As MS i believe mentioned them together is a little too much old man 1990 baseball experts call 2021 games.

But I dont want buck 100% retired either.

Didn't you get vaccinated to be safe? why you worried about anyone else.

Ray has had 6 at-bats with runners in scoring position, and he’s gotten 5 strikeouts and 1 pop up.

Supposedly the Leafs are planning for full capacity(vaccine required) for the start of the season. Hopefully the Jays can unleash the power of a packed Dome for a potential home playoff game.

I’m double vaxxed but heard you needed both. I’m not get a covid test on top to go to a game. Thanks for the clarity

He’s been garbage for many years. And when they let him do PBP it’s even worse. I hope to hell he is done. I feel sorry for Dan Shulman having to deal with the guy. He gets cut off constantly to hear Buck’s repetitive twang. The guy is 73, it’s time.

John Smoltz is a thousand times better than Tabler or Martinez.

I agree with the notion of Manoah over Ryu right now but Ryu's last 2 years vs the Yankees have been great;

6 Starts
3-0 (Jays are 5-1; only game we lost was when Ryu left with a 5-2 lead and the pen blew it to lose 6-5)
36 Innings
27 Hits
10 ERs
2.50 ERA
30 Ks
10 BBs

Hmm fair enough I can get behind this, especially with Ryu having the extra day of rest.
