Manoah might win the Rookie of the Year. There are some very good rookies kicking around, sure, but none of them are very dominant (although that Tristan kid would look better if it weren't for his ERA). Manoah continues to kick butt in the playoffs-hopefully-and he should nail it.

Voting is done before the playoffs.

Adolis Garcia is at 3.4 WAR currently and is going to finish up with about 35 HR. He's going to be difficult to beat although his age might turn some voters off.

Luis Garcia is having a similar season to Manoah but with almost 50 more innings. It will also be difficult for Manoah to get by him.

Manoah with a full season and ~180 IP would definitely be the frontrunner, but missing 2 months will probably be too much to overcome.

Can't deny his contribution to the Jays postseason run though.

tbh it might sound crazy but if my 2 options this season were...

1. miss the playoffs and montoyo is fired
2. make the playoffs and have montoyo stick around another year

im taking option 1.

Ten big-name MLB players generating the most trade buzz for this offseason - The Athletic

1. José Ramírez, 3B, Cleveland Indians

Age: 28
Bats: Both Throws: Right
Team control: Through 2023

Ramírez, one of the game’s best all-around third basemen, is in his prime. A career .353 on-base percentage player, Ramírez has belted more than 30 home runs again this season, while stealing 23 bases in 26 attempts. His 5.4 WAR, according to Baseball-Reference, shows his impact. He’s signed to a club-friendly contract that includes team options for 2022 ($12 million) and 2023 ($14 million). It’s unlikely the Indians will be able to sign Ramírez long term after those two seasons, and while they could extend him, trading him this offseason would bring the best possible return. On the other hand, keeping him for another season would likely result in an undervalued return, like what Cleveland received for Francisco Lindor when it traded him to the Mets after waiting until the final year of his contract. Watch the Giants, Blue Jays and Nationals as possible trade partners.

4. Matt Chapman, 3B, Oakland Athletics

Age: 28
Bats: Right Throws: Right
Team control: Through 2023

Chapman is the best defensive third baseman in the American League and there are metrics that suggest he’s the best in the sport, but I can’t go there because of my appreciation for Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado. Like his teammate Olson, Chapman will be a free agent after the 2023 season. He comes with 25-30 home run power and standout run-prevention qualities that boost a pitching staff. He’s arbitration-eligible for the next two years, and he will get paid. Teams that could be interested in trading for Chapman include the Nationals, Giants, Blue Jays and Tigers.

the actual biggest mistake was going into the season with only one reliable SP.

but, to their credit and praise, they finally did add a second one....albeit just in the nick of time.

right. Frankly i am looking forward to next season even more regardless of how the season ends.
The funny thing with everyone stating that our rotation only had 1 reliable starting pitcher to start the season is that our rotation was far from the issue all year. Even without Berrios the rotation was above average from start until now.

Matz, Ray and Ryu were not the issue when we started the season. They gave us what we needed. Stripling also was effective this season. But it was when we added Berrios and Manoah that the staff became the best in the AL.

Our issues at the beginning of the season was more to do with bullpen and coaching than anything else. This is why its a 162 game season, its not a sprint its a marathon and it seems like Shatkins played the field well and made some key acquisitions at the right time.

Dont underestimate the recent acquisitions of players like Lamb, Dyson and promotions of Valera and Smith. Our bench has become solid and Montoya has it down on how to use them.

Robbie Ray: The lefty struggled badly with wildness, walking a batter every other inning in the two years since his all-star season in 2017, and had 31 walks in 31 innings in 2020 when the Jays traded for him. Under Walker, Ray cut down the walks by one-third, then walked just one in his three-inning post-season stint, and five in 13 2/3 innings this spring. (Opinion | Some people call Blue Jays coach Pete Walker ‘the pitcher whisperer.’ Here’s why)
I give lots of credit to the pitching coach, Pete Walker. i dont think we have the best pitching staff in the AL, but probably one of the best pitching coaches. It certainly is one of the top 10 but not THE best.

17 GR need to go 10-7 to make the playoffs (91-71).

Schedule:

BAL x 3
TB x 4
MIN x 7
NYY x 3

I predict we will go 10-7 in our last 17 and finish with a record of 91-71 and just might squeak into that last WC spot

2-1 vs BAL
2-2 vs TB
5-2 vs MIN
2-1 vs NYY

Uh this is bad

I think he is fine. No imaging needed based on Montoyo's presser last night. He was getting a rub down and all indications point to him being perfectly fine.

If you watched the dugout footage, he was asking to be left in. Montoyo took the side of precaution, he did his job for 7 innings and it was pointless to risk anything. Berrios didnt look like he was favoring anything through his outing. He was dominant.

I despise most of Simmons writing (because he comes across as a know-it-all), but I fully agree with this. Buck not being live when Pat is sends a message. On top of that, his eyesight is clearly deteriorating and he is too headstrong to address this.

Personally, I hate the PBP-Color Man approach where one guy is a token add. I would love to see us try to find the next Dan by allowing a younger journalist with some PBP experience work with Dan when Pat is not available and letting that person work with Pat when Dan is not available. I think Pat has grown enough as a color guy that I am okay with him continuing in that role, but Buck is not effective as either a PBP or color guy (because he goes off on tangents and even Dan can't do his job once Buck starts).

Years of Brandon Morrow oblique/ab injuries have scarred me. Assuming you guys are right.

Just got my playoff tix hopefully I can use them!

Most players use Sports drinks (like Gatorade) to rapidly fix dehydration if they catch it in time. As a diabetic, Morrow would not have this option, making dehydration a significant concern and complications more severe.

Jays getting the Media love now:

Surprisingly informative tbh. I legit learned a new thing in every segment there.

Especially love the segment on Bo's defense.

Buck is about to turn 73 years old. It's time to turn the page, and if he's going to rush that decision with his personal beliefs all the better.

Shulman and the excellent Siddall would be an outstanding pairing to move forward with.

honestly, getting dumped for being childish about vaccines would be the perfect ending to Buck's jays career.
