Blue Jays Discussion: End of the Hand

We should be very happy we didn’t get Lindor, for a number of reasons lol
 
Great weekend of baseball. Little disappointed in the outcome of this past Friday's game but we made up for it over the weekend with a clean sweep.

This coming series against the Rays will be critical in our chances to solidify a playoff spot. If we can take 2 out of 3 at minimum this would be best for the club.

Here's hoping the the Mariners and Red Sox beat each other up. And the Twins and Orioles beat up on the Yankees.

Thinking about the rotation a bit here.

The goal to me is to set up nicely for the Yankees series and give Ray/Manoah/Berrios an extra start. What ends up happening is you also get Ray on full rest for WC and a Berrios/Manoah/Ray set up for the DS all on full rest. And if you need a Game 163 there's Berrios available for that one.

If they do not skip one of Ryu or Matz after this upcoming offday, it is significantly more complicated (aka impossible) to get things to work. I know Matz has been extremely good in August but this is a no-brainer move imo.

Only thing here is you're throwing everyone on three days rest against NYY.
 
Someone else I read say just keep Ray on his regular 5 days, and move others back(preferably Ryu if possible because he likes it) which sets up Ray for the WC Game.

ryu CLEARLY needs rest imo. ryu to sept is what matz was to april lol

You could have Manoah jump 1 of them using either the first off day or the 2nd off day, but I don't think it can work for 2 people to jump them so both miss NYY completely if you're also lining up Ray for the WC game because you can't use Berrios to jump Ray the first time which would leave him on short rest to get to the NYY series. You could actually use both off days to get Manoah 5 starts while Ryu and Matz only get 3 but I don't suspect they'll do that

lets just hope we can lock it down before that series and not be behind a game or 2, im already stressed thinking about ryu lol. he's got a 7.78 era this month.

yep, matz over ryu for me too, crazy to think he finished 3rd in al cy young votes last year and now he prob wouldnt be picked by some to be in our top 4(im sure all would agree not top 3) if the season ended today.

I think you guys are right - it might be smart to skip a Ryu start to get him some rest. Can pitch Hatch/Stripling on that day.
