You could have Manoah jump 1 of them using either the first off day or the 2nd off day, but I don't think it can work for 2 people to jump them so both miss NYY completely if you're also lining up Ray for the WC game because you can't use Berrios to jump Ray the first time which would leave him on short rest to get to the NYY series. You could actually use both off days to get Manoah 5 starts while Ryu and Matz only get 3 but I don't suspect they'll do that

This is why I like mine. The only true "skip" is Ryu the next time through the order (you push Matz back a couple days for him to avoid the Yankees) and you line up your three best pitchers against the Yankees.

The downside of mine is that you have Matz/Ryu away at Tampa but I will make the galaxy brain argument that you're better off lining yourself up to smash Minnesota on either end of it.

Twins with a early lead. Polanco is having a crazy good year.

Keep it going twinkies!!!!

Hope Donaldson can help his former club out. One that he should have never left!!!!! Imagine him in our lineup right now!!!

Unfortunately not at what the Twins are paying him.

phillipmike: Let's trade Gurriel for Lindor and Carrasco

Gurriel - 1.7 fWAR or 2.8 bWAR ($4M)
Total: 1.7 fWAR or 2.8 bWAR ($4M)

Lindor - 2.3 fWAR or 2.9 bWAR ($22M)
Carrasco - 0.4 fWAR 0r -0.6 bWAR ($12M)
Total: 2.7 fWAR or 2.3 bWAR ($34M)

Plus it’s not a good idea to underestimate the Twins’ offense, they actually have some mashers over there.

If he took the Jays extension offer prior to the 2018 season he would be on his last year at $30M.

Griffin said prior to the 2018 season the Jays offered Donaldson a 3 year extension around $90M. So theoretically he would have been paid $30M in 2019, 2020 and 2021 each. Which may have been a great contract in terms of timeline for us, though that likely means one of Semien or Springer isnt needed.

For Donaldson he made $23M with the Braves and was guaranteed $92M with the Twins. He came out with $115M from 2019 to 2023. So for him to come ahead, he would have had to sign a deal bigger than $25M this off-season if he took the Jays 2018 offer, which is possible but not likely with his injury history. Depends how much he wanted to be a Jay or does he value that $25M more.

We'll see how many runs the yankees score today. The challenged twins pitchers are throwing the kitchen sink at them today (2 pitchers through 1 inning)

Prior to the 2020 playoffs, the Twins have lost 4 straight playoff series for a total of 10 games, all to the Yankees. Donaldson and Cole hate each other and Cole is set to return tomorrow. Twins are going to love to play spoiler to make sure the Yankees dont make it.

The only thing bad about the Yankees struggling is you just know their going to make big changes now. They will have to replace Torres for sure at the very least and maybe Urshella. I gotta think their going to enter the Jose Ramirez, Marcus Semien, Carlos Correa etc sweepstakes.

The Twins and Yankees are only playing one game, the Yankees play the Orioles tomorrow.

i dont get it. there are 162 games in the season. why is this one "the game"?

one of the most memorable games this season for me was when they came back to the skydome

from the above - "The Blue Jays are on a 14–2 run. On Monday they begin a three-game set against Tampa Bay, which has neutralized them while winning eight of 13. But get this: After that the Jays play 10 of their final 16 games against Minnesota and Baltimore, the two worst pitching staffs in the league. Their final three games are against the Orioles. There is a good chance this kind of hitting continues. With a wild-card lead, Toronto controls its playoff destiny."

I didn't even consider just outright skipping Ryu a time through the order. That makes sense. I'm still not sure they want Manoah 5 times and Ryu/Matz only 3 though. Either they're buying into the results Matz has had and will want him more, or they're buying into the player himself and want Ryu more despite the poor results he's had lately. Plus Montoyo is making the decision.

Was Moreno ranked that high earlier in the year? That’s a high rank

Is SWR still in the top 100?

Well the Umps just handed the Yanks back the game, tied up at 5 after screwing the Twins pitchers with their strikezone.

I’d assume “the game” is in reference to them turning the tide and catapulting themselves into a favourable position for the playoffs. But honestly, if there was ever a “the game” moment this season it has to be the 9 runs in the final two innings comeback against the As, capping off with a Semien walkoff homerun. From tying, to losing, to walking it off. That was the start of the September run.

I also don’t have the stats in front of me but I’d imagine whoever was complaining about the Jays being the worst team at hitting in the final 3 innings of games is now getting one’s just deserts.

For the record I would still much rather laugh at the red Sox missing the playoffs than at the Yankees.

Hopefully, Oakland passes them both.
