No, I am a fan of the team and think Dubas will do a better job than most GMs available. Just because I am not a grumpy old man like a lot of people here doesn't mean I am not a fan of the team.
I am fine with Dubas coming back as long as he breaks up the core.

He added the right pieces this year. They all contributed and brought some much needed toughness to the group.

Unless Shanny made him, then that shows growth as a GM, and an understanding of what players need to be sought after.

I would then trust him to trade whoever and get the right guys back to strengthen the club

That emotion both helped and harmed the Leafs at various points throughout the season, in reality.
The guy scored more than 20 goals in each of the past two seasons while making less than a million per year. Now thats value. Playing with heart on sleeve while getting hosed in the salary department takes character.

And we've got fans claiming Nylander is worth $10M per for finally scoring 40. Geezus. What do people want here?

You spend 100% of your time pining for Dubas dude it's pretty easy to see that you'll be gone when he hopefully gets canned in a week

Having expectations isn't being a grumpy old man some people actually care about their team giving effort and winning shit as opposed to our GM looking smart because he wears glasses

I will say that I at least respect you still being here at the moment as opposed to some others

I am going to go out on a limb and say the core does not enjoy going through this.
They don't enjoy it, but they certainly don't hate it enough to not let it happen again and again. This core has 1 playoff series win together in 7 playoff appearances. Nearly every other team in the league has had more success than the Leafs in that time, including Seattle who have only been in the league for two of those years. It's embarrassing and it's impossible to deflect attention away from this level of crushing failure

McDavid: 'I feel like you've got to go through some of this to win.'

Where does he say he enjoys it? Keep spinning.

"Notably he says he hopes it’s the last time going through it. That’s more impactful than core four have said"

The criticism? Sure, clearly rattles soft Marner.

Don’t enjoy going through the losing? There’s little to suggest they give even half a shit.

Notably he says he hopes it’s the last time going through it. That’s more impactful than core four have said
Wouldn't that be something that could go without saying or do you believe they hope to go through it again?

The Oilers lost because their 'Stars' dont know how to play a 2-way game, they are 1-dimensional all offense only, and cheat like crazy on defense. We call JT horrible on defense, yet he was only -1 ...ROR was -3

in the playoffs +/- is a very important stat. Sort playoff scoring +/- showing the minus leaders, and the top 15 are all out of the playoffs. why did NJD lose, Hamilton's -11 didnt help, Leafs Holl, Gio, and McCabe all -7 (4,5,6 on the list) next lowest leaf was 37th place

McD, 20 points and was a MINUS 1
Drais, 18 points and was a MINUS 1
Marner was Plus 7
Matthews was Plus 2

the Oilers 2 are great on offense, but do nothing to assist on the defensive side of the game.
while Matthews wasnt scoring he was really strong on the backcheck and
Disagree. I thought the Oilers played really well and lost because their goaltending was pretty bad. They outplayed Vegas last night for sure.

You say in the playoffs, +- is a very important stat, I think that for the most part +- is a terrible stat to judge individual players. What is really important in the playoffs however is as the old cliche says - special teams and goaltending. And if they get most of their points on the PP, who cares? PP goals count just the same as all the other goals, what's the problem?

Dumping on the Oiler stars and saying they can't play D seems to be the trendy thing to do but IMO McD and Drai are amazing players and I'd take both of them over Marner without hesitation. In fact I'd almost say I'd take either one of them over any of our players except not sure about Drai over Matthews though I might take that too, not sure.

Flip the goaltending and EDM goes through to the next round, easy.

Could this be something at the board level that is not decided yet? I thought I read something about Bell and Rogers being divided on the path forward. Not sure how long they get to thrash it out until Larry gets to play tiebreaker.
So Shanahan will speak “in the days ahead”

Kinda feels to me of Shanahan will be doing press once they announced Dubas and/or Keefe gone so no point in speaking today
I’d have been surprised if anything had already been decided. It’s only been two days from the end of the season. Gotta take some time to decompress emotionally, because emotional decision are not good decisions, meet with people, talk it out. You’d think that would be this weeks work at the high levels of MLSE.
Crucially, Tanenbaum & Bell are on the same side of most major decisions. Rogers are on the opposite side, on their own.

So, if they want Shanahan fired / wholesale changes etc., they'll get what they want.

I believe the Rogers kids wanted Shanahan out in the past, but it was Tanenbaum + Bell that pushed to keep him in place recently. Not sure what that means now moving forward. Certainly feels like the goalposts have moved.

Interesting I would have assumed it was the media corps vs Larry

From my understanding, part of the Bell-Rogers ownership agreement is that they always vote together. This was to prevent Tanenbaum from teaming up with one against the other and part of the reason, Larry got an ownership bump from 20% to 25%. He gets to be Chair of the MLSE board and Governor but has little, if any, decision making power.

There’s a numbered company jointly owned by Rogers and Bell, 50-50, that owns the 75% interest in MLSE they jointly hold. That company votes in MLSE decisions with its 75% to ensure they vote together as opposed to a vote of 37.5% Rogers, 37.5% Bell and 25% Larry.

Laughing so hard that Tavares is proud of the work he did and did some good things off the puck.
Loser captain= loser room

How about being pissed about not putting puck in the net?

Well you know, we played the game and the checks always clear. I am going to enjoy my summer now. Goodbye. JT out

I am a Leafs fan, I will be here regardless of who is in charge.

We just have very different opinions on who is best for the team.

We've tried both experience and inexperience at the coaching and GM positions.

I still think hockey is an extremely random sport and the best team doesn't always win.

Driving Matthews out of town seems insane, I am open to other changes, but I'd prefer Dubas do it over most GMs in the league.

Holland should also be canned tbh
