Ehhhh I liked ROR but I feel like his lack of speed is a big issue. He had very low impact when the Leafs needed him the most. I'd be very concerned about his next contract.

Leafs need center depth so obviously if the contract is alright then for sure it could work out.
ROR isn't the fastest but he has a big frame and his positional awareness and IQ is incredible. He was almost always in the right spots and his play through the neutral zone especially was elite. I rarely saw him getting burned for being slower. I do wish he had been able to create more but that also falls a bit on Keefe for the way he used him which was mostly as a checking line C - when he got to play with Knies they had great chemistry and were able to generate some really good chances together, same with JT and Marner.

The dishonesty of the media here never ceases to amaze me.

I'm not sure how you arrive at that conclusion from this interaction:

Really lame work by CJ here.

CJ got his start from misquoting Friedman's radio hits and taking them out of context. Not surprising

He might be. This league, and maybe the Leafs in particular, is littered with the next big thing goalies who weren't.

How about we let him play a season before we anoint him the second coming?
Second coming of what? Look around the league... Not all goalies are Dominic hasek or Patrick Roy. I've seen enough to know he's 1B material already. I think he will show that he's 1a shortly next season.

He's always been a mercenary so it wouldn't be a surprise if he goes to UFA, Leafs may also not have interest.

CJ may have spoken to him one on one though to arrive at his conclusion.

In another words, he's more qualified than Kyle Dubas
He would be the guy to handle the contracts if KD was turfed. I think he would do a pretty good job of that and the continuity should be pretty seamless. He has been with Dubas a long time so I might be concerned with him being a co author of some of the things we are blaming on Kyle but that should be easy to squeeze out of him in an interview if they want him long term..

I am biased towards Eric Tulsky because Carolina has shown to be a better organization but there will be a lineup for his services and I suspect he wouldn't be going anywhere until after the draft. Also if he is under contract do they need to pay compensation?

Didn't Oreilly chase the money in the past..? Sure things change but this his final contract, I expect him to go to the highest bidder, which we probably shouldn't be.

I agree with most of that. My point was moreso the contract, not so much the player. He wasn't perfect since acquired but for the most part he did good. He's not the kind of player to take discounts and this is probably his last "big" contract, so I would be shocked if the Leafs can compete with teams likely more willing to give him term.

This organization does not deserve the fanbase they have. Half the league couldn't get this participation in playoff GDT, let alone a presser.

We really need to have our heads examined.

I think it’s actually the dysfunctional tension that keeps people engaged. If they were a happy organization that robotically went about it’s business and had predictable results, boringly consistent core players and no glaring roster imbalances like a Carolina or something people wouldn’t tune in like this.

Is that even possible ??
Dubas is a good speaker and I guess that requires a certain kind of intelligence. But considering the resources he has available to him, some of his decision making is actually shocking. I don't think he really knows what he's doing, although he is really good at convincing people otherwise

The full clip definitely makes it sound like ROR is done here.

Lots of references to the team as "they" instead of "we", and apologizing for not getting the job done on the way out.

Very easy to make that conclusion - I made that conclusion as well.

It was obvious from o’Reilly interview he’s not coming back . The fact he didn’t go into his injury is because he’s testing free agency.

Lol CJ is an insider , he’s saying this because he knows more than the public.
The Tweet repeats the 'haven't given it much thought' line directly from the video so I don't think he's speaking on some personal interaction here. Just feels like he mixed in his own opinion

I love watching ROR up close and personal as a Leaf and thought he was a breath of fresh air. But is part of our problem not having more mid to late 20s guys who are still in their prime, who have not had their 2019 Conn Smythe run instead of being past that in their career? I’d bring ROR back but the money can’t be outrageous.

and was last seasons Presidents trophy winner, who added a Hart finalist. ...Fla just had a very crappy start to the season
Florida got into the playoffs because Chicago(!) beat Pittsburgh at the end of the season, so Penguins out. That's how good Florida was.

Agreed... which is fine, he wasn't very good here. He had his moments, but I think his best days are behind him.

How do you look like you don't care?

Half the time he looks like he's ready to cry.

The issue with all of them, and I don't believe it is they don't care, is they refuse to make any adjustment to their game.

5 goals total in the past 5 do or die games.

Eventually you have to try to change something if it is not working. Get off the perimeter. Stop stick checking and maube try to flatten someone. Drive hard to the net to create something.

Matthews tried to be physical, but he is a big guy. He could do more. If Bennet can trick someone, Matthews could send someone into next week.

They are either getting really terrible advice, or they are flat out stupid. You can't do the same thing over and over when it has shown zero success
