Those europeans coaches had always comparing nygren, olofsson, vejdemo, ikonen and cie like the next superstar. I never put a lot of interests about their comments, they are maybe good for they caliber on their league, but in America. This is a totally different story
funny I don't remember ever hearing that from Nygren, Olofsson, Vejdemo, or Ikonen's coaches. Maybe Nygren because it's been so long I could have just forgotten and he was really good just too bad he didn't want to play in the AHL. Ikonen has a rep for not working hard, Vejdemo never did much of anything in the SHL so not sure why his coach would be talking him up. In 3 years he had a 17, 8 and 22 pt seasons.
Norlinder is the only one I can recall being hyped by coaches and the media over there.
I'm sure he has an out clause to join the NHL. And if look at his progress over the last two years, its huge. Like HUGE. So another year in the SHL is maybe a good thing anyway. Last season, he had only 1 goal - this year, 20-something so far!
you don't need an out clause when there's a PTA in place. Just have to follow the rules set by the PTA which for non 1st round picks means NHL or SHL.
To join the NHL? We want him on the AHL squad, that's always the issue.
Outside of a conditioning stint he can't play in the AHL while under contract in the SHL.
Never been a fan of the SHL. It's like watching a no-contact league.
are you sure you got the right league, the SHL plays like it's the '90's NHL, so much clutching and grabbing. The Fans are great though.
No we don't. The SHL is miles better than the AHL
It's hard to compare a development league to a pro league but miles better, no way imo.
