I'm sure he has an out clause to join the NHL. And if look at his progress over the last two years, its huge. Like HUGE. So another year in the SHL is maybe a good thing anyway. Last season, he had only 1 goal - this year, 20-something so far!
To join the NHL? We want him on the AHL squad, that's always the issue.

It seems like he's a mid-2nd rounder who is on course for the most part, and someone the Habs like. Hopefully they just add him to the developing player box and let the best players rise up.

In general I'm thrilled, as long as Hughes doesn't make that mistake of undervaluing all the prospects he inherited. By that I mean I don't really care which prospects emerge for the Habs, and hopefully Hughes feels the same way, because the Habs have a truckload and I think some of them are gonna be good.

I don't know if somebody wrote it here, But Heineman started the year with 7 points in his first 26 games, but he has 9 points and 6 goals in his last 10 games. The kid is making progress. That's very important. 10 games is a small sample size, so we'll see if he continues on that trend.

Welcome to Montreal!!

I really like the trade. He looks like a good prospect to have and fit perfectly on Habs prospect pool.

6g, 3 a, 9 points in his 10 last game in Sweden league!!

Is it me or does this kid appear to have some speed?

Those europeans coaches had always comparing nygren, olofsson, vejdemo, ikonen and cie like the next superstar. I never put a lot of interests about their comments, they are maybe good for they caliber on their league, but in America. This is a totally different story

funny I don't remember ever hearing that from Nygren, Olofsson, Vejdemo, or Ikonen's coaches. Maybe Nygren because it's been so long I could have just forgotten and he was really good just too bad he didn't want to play in the AHL. Ikonen has a rep for not working hard, Vejdemo never did much of anything in the SHL so not sure why his coach would be talking him up. In 3 years he had a 17, 8 and 22 pt seasons.

Norlinder is the only one I can recall being hyped by coaches and the media over there.

you don't need an out clause when there's a PTA in place. Just have to follow the rules set by the PTA which for non 1st round picks means NHL or SHL.

To join the NHL? We want him on the AHL squad, that's always the issue.

Outside of a conditioning stint he can't play in the AHL while under contract in the SHL.

Never been a fan of the SHL. It's like watching a no-contact league.

are you sure you got the right league, the SHL plays like it's the '90's NHL, so much clutching and grabbing. The Fans are great though.

No we don't. The SHL is miles better than the AHL

It's hard to compare a development league to a pro league but miles better, no way imo.

When is his contract in the SHL ending?

I'm all for the conditioning stint with the Rocket. Gives me an excuse to look for tickets. :naughty:

I think I'd rather have him come over to Laval as soon as next season, if only because it's easier to give him a top 9 spot and some powerplay minutes here , while we don't have much control over what Leksands coach does if he stays there. If we want to push his offensive game further he needs to be put with the right players and in the right context.

Are you sure he’d be eligible to play in the AHL? I thought that if a SHL player is not drafted in the 1st round, they can only play the NHL or the SHL.

Oh he won’t undervalue . In fact in the off-season you will see many hires to help their développement and especially develop their skills
