Not sure why so many are questioning his ability to play top 6. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having strong 3rd line players especially with size, speed and grit. Those guys are hard to play against and can eat valuable minutes versus top lines. I love having players like Heineman and Tuch who fit this mould in the system.

We need to hit on our 1st round picks to get stronger players for the top two lines.
In fact, to get a former nhl 3rd line winger with a second pick is a real succcess on all the line. We can blame a guy like lehkonen to doesnt has offensive skills. But in fact, he is a really good get for a secound rounder

Then Lehkonen is the obvious comparison.
I agree bigger Lehkonen is probably a closer comparison.

Lehkonen is pretty unique in how smart he is with the puck and a consistent workhorse, despite not having a big frame.

Heineman sounds like a fast big guy with a little goal scoring touch. I suppose he could have a lot of similarities with Lehkonen, but we'll see.

Because it's Pacioretty that I know enough to compare him with. The way he skates at full speed is very similar and he has a great shot. As for what his ceiling is, time will tell. When Pacioretty was 20, some here called him a bust... It's easy today to say now: Oh! Pacioretty. Remember that when Pacioretty was 20, Gainey decided it was fair to give Ryan MacDonagh for Scott Gomez. Who is telling us he did not offer Pacioretty instead of McDonagh? Remember the trade for Kovalev, Gainey gave Sather the choice between Plekanec and Josef Balej, Sather took Balej who was 22 at the time, Plekanec was 21. So Heineman turned 20 last November, we should all be careful when it comes to predict what he will become. All we can say now is that he has some elite tools and he is willing on the ice.

Then why on earth even bring up this name? Why not compare him to Adrian Kempe, Carl Hagelin, or Zach Hyman?

Hughes gets profesional athletes SOOOOOO much better than MB did. It's hilarious, since one actually lived the experience, whereas the other has only worked in the periphery... good reminder that just because someone has a certain experience, doesn't mean they actually understand it! (especially when it comes to former athletes...)

It was not normal for so many of our players to leave the team while not knowing what went wrong. Basically you had players thrown under the bus being traded and telling journalists that nobody within the organization told them what did not work. From what i can remember it happened on more then one occasion. People were blaming the players but it simply was not normal. I hope the new management and coaches will communicate better. It's important for players to know what's going on. I think it was nice of him to call the kid and tell him he was traded because we wanted him. He's not a high quality prospect but i think people undervalue him a bit i'd say his ceiling is easily Hyman type of player and i would not say he's not on track to meet that ceiling.

Sounds more like Anderson

If this kid becomes a lesser version of Anderson, say 3rd liner Anderson good for 15 goals but can PK I'm so on board
You know though, it still isn't building the top 6 OR top 3 defencemen. You ain't getting those guys with 2nd rounders. Sure, you need solid , bottom guys, but I didn't care for Hughes' comment alluding to not drafting first next year. Unless he's a miracle worker and finds some super star talent somewhere, I really don't want to continue being a middle of the pack team who may squeek into the playoffs because we lack true superstars. I'm quite fed up with that. Contenders have super stars. Plain and simple. 99% of the time, you draft them high.

The best thing about Heineman it's we never know with prospects. Yeah you can call that he is a B prospect, but looks Roope Hintz... in 2017 he is a B prospect too. We never know with young players.

That's why the draft is a crapshoot.

Yeah right, Bergs got us to Finals. You sound like one of the fellows who was bowing down to Bergs when he upset the Bruins in '14. It's different adding a few pieces than putting a team over the top. s

What intrigued me the most from that highlight pack is how he doesn't seem to need to load up his shot to get decent power on it. That is an extremely important trait to me because there simply is no time in the N to drag the puck backwards before shooting. Usually guys with that type of release are still able to use it at the next level.

I like the larger version of Arvidsson comparison.

I haven't heard anyone make the comparison to Andrej Kase but he maybe reminds me the most of him before the head injuries derailed his career.
