Just like Brandon Bochenski, right? Heineman is obviously better than him, but he wouldn't have been one of our best player last year.

More time in Laval won't hurt him and we have too much of a log jam at the wings.

Caufield-Anderson
Slafkovsky-Newhook
RHP-Gallagher
Ylonen - One of Evans/Monahan/Dach/Dvorak (since they can't all play C)

Even if you remove Hoffman/Armia, Pitlick and Pezzetta, you'll have a hard time fitting him.

Of course, if he forces your hand at camp you find a way, but there's currently no reason to pencil him in the lineup.
I was at camp a day last year. Heinemann should play. Everything is there. Good skater, size, decent hands, seemed good hockey sense Consistent 20-25 goal guy, two way player I predict.

And a heavy, accurate snap shot. He may actually be the best fit with Caufield and Suzuki if Dach plays center.

I‘d keep Caufield in that entire group and start from there… Slaf for the potential.

I have Heinemann and Engstrom as #1 and #2 on my mental prospect list (ahead of Hutson and Reinbacher for the latter). Both look like actual good hockey players. Get this kid on Dach’s wing so they can spend the next years developing chemistry and their game.

Last year? Definitely not.
This year? Lottery ticket chance.
Eventually? Maybe.

Is Heineman the new Poehling?

On paper he certainly has everything you could want in a pro winger , it's up to him to make it happen now. Staying healthy is going to be a major part of it obviously, he needs to play a lot of games, be it in laval or with the big team.

I think Heineman might be a wild card.

With the departure of Hoffman and Pitlick. RHP and Ylonen have their place on the 14 NHL forwards.

First NHL call-up logically should be Lias Andersson and Emil Heineman.

I think Heineman could surprise, he was pretty impressive in Laval and i think he has a great profile to be a complement to Nick and Cole, if he is good enough obviously. He should at least be a valuable presence in the bottom six with his shot, size and speed.

If he’s better than them at camp he should be the one getting his spot on the team and potentially a top 6 one.

Agree.

Will he tho?

Well, whatever happen, any of those three will bring an element of dynamism that was lacking in our team.

He is going to be a stand out at camp and force Hughes to free up another roster spot. Personally I would trade Evans who is a fringe NHLer and not part of our future.
I agree. Evans is a dime-a-dozen player imo, a warm body. Great to even get a NHLer with a 7th round pick, but we're starting to have less and less room to try our prospect on the team and he's obviously someone we could easily survive without.

Nothing against the guy, seems well liked, just not worth having guys rot down in the A just to hang on to him.

We could move on from Evans no problem. But I prefer Evans to Pez.

Very excited to watch Heineman at camp.

Gotta like the confidence. I think he’s somewhat underrated. If he had stone hands and tunnel vision, I’d be quicker to rule out top6. They’re just not as good as the rest of his game but still solid from the little I’ve seen.

I doubt he lasts long in Laval if he plays there at all.

If Dvorak is injured one of them could start the season with the Habs if they choose to carry 14 forwards. It could give the Habs an extended look at them in the NHL.

He'll still end up in Laval IMO cuz there are no spots.
With Dvo out, there is one spot in the top 14 if we go 7D:

Caufield Suzuki _________
Slaf Dach Newhook
RHP Monahan Anderson
Gallagher Evans Ylonen
Pez, Armia

Guhle Savard
Matheson Barron
Harris Xhekaj
Kovacevic

Montembault
Allen

Primeau, DeSmith, Wideman in Laval. Basically, Heineman has to beat out Primeau, DeSmith, Wideman, and all the other young guys like Beck and Roy who will also be pushing.

Edit: There's also Lindstrom to beat out. Heineman would have to make management go 14 forwards instead of 8D.
