Ah De La Rose, the perfect case study of a "safe" pick not working out.

Well he did play over 240 games in the NHL which I suspect is well above the expected success rate of his draft position. He could have played many more if he was content playing as a 4th liner. So yeah he was a safe pick to play in the NHL and that is what he did.

he also left the NHL to be closer to his mother before she died. Granted he may not of had many offers left at that point. I just hated how they handled him though, 4th liner at 19 in the AHL is just not smart imo, but then when he gets moved up after the WJC's and starts producing they call him up to the NHL and then he gets yo-yoed. Kid should of had more time to work on his offensive game, of course he may never have turned into anything more then a 4th line tweener but he at least would have been a cheap contract. But new management team, new and better focus on development so we can start to forget all the bad decisions that have plagued this organization for a long time.

Heineman with pts in back to back games, 3 in the last 4 and going back to Euro Tour + SHL he's got 6 pts in the last 8 games. Likely had to shake off the rust from being out so long and missing a chunk of last season on top of that, but hopefully he's back on track as i look forward to seeing him with the Habs or Laval next year.
