I'm liking that Toffoli trade more and more. Heineman and Mesar are both great kids. They might not have elite skills but neither is Toffoli. They both have great personality and work hard and they both project as potential middle six players with an outside chance to become top 6 players. You need those kind of players to build a cup contending team. If a similar trade can be made for Edmundson i think we should bite the bullet.

Emil Heineman, he was one of the big surprises, he impressed me.

The goals he scored were nice, weren't they.

I really want him in Laval now, he looks ready for the NA game to me. His swedish team gets first dib though in his contract so we don't really have control over that :help:

I was very underwhelmed with the return on Toffoli at the time. I felt like why are we rushing to move him of all people? (He was the first major piece we moved)
But man the return is starting to look pretty damn sweet already. Hope this kid pans out, he’s easy to root for.

Glad others are finally seeing what @NotProkofievian and I saw during his draft year.

Good prospect get in the Toffoli deal and he's showing that he can be a potentially useful middle 6 player.
Where did you guys have him ranked? I didnt follow that draft class much, but he was my 1st target day 2 of the draft, I think we were a couple to be pissed off when Florida selected him, I sure was, draft dynasty guy made a great job to sell us the player...

Out of all the prospects we have, this guy really intrigues me because I didn't expect much, but watching him skate and shoot....there are some above average nhl skills there.

He has a shot and release to score 30. I don't know how his offensive IQ will translate at the nhl level, so we'll see if he actually ends up producing.

Also, my word is he a puck hound. What an aggressive forechecker. It's quite something to see.

Could end up being a steal of a trade if he puts it all together..

He is big, strong and relentless on pucks, good IQ and solid tools. Surefire middle 6 NHLer with top 6 upside IMO.

How do you like his development so far? What do you think are his strengths currently? Too early to tell if he's an nhler?

He's come along, I think he's not that far away. He just needs to make some of his movements from defense or transition to offense are more efficient and quick.

More implication defensively would help as well when he's not scoring.

He's looked way better than expected. That shot alone can make him a future 25 goalscorer. It might have been just me being upset with losing Toffoli and his great contract but the trade is looking really good.

If he’s not that far off, it would make a lot more sense to have him further his development in Laval.

Question becomes, how do they convince Leksands to relinquish their rights for it to happen? I’m assuming the Habs will not take the option of having him remain with their NHL team til December.

I don't think you can, but at least he's getting top 6 minutes there. He will continue to grow and join Laval at the end of his Swedish season

Gotta find a way to keep him in Laval this year god

Give him cash under the table! Anything!
Has to go back don't he? He signed contract in Sweden. There's agreement between NHL and Sweden.

Unless he makes Habs but little chance that happening. Habs have 15 forwards now. Ylonen and RHP deserve a Cup of coffee at some point this season
