Calling BS on this. Don't get me wrong, I'd love this for the drama aspect. But Russo is an idiot. He was also the one freaking out about Murray trying to fix the net and pretending he was sabotaging it and getting all riled up. If he can't get basic facts right that is clear as day on video for anyone to see, this is BS as well.

Good call 🙄

I really need to get a job as a sports writer, it would be so blippin easy. Ready for my resume titles?.

"Toronto unhappy with Marner, teams have been circling"

"Avalanche internally discussing blowing up D core after disappointing start to season"

"MTL and VGK looking to connect on another potentially massive deal"

Like literally just make stuff up, and 0 ramifications. We are in the wrong profession gentlepeople....

Yeah, that's all Russo does. Totally nailed it!

Not sure why. The 9 year rebuild is right on course with a top 30 prospect pool and a team CONSTANTLY competing for a top 25 spot in the league while being to the cap max every year and only 4.5 years left on scratched OEL and his $7.2 million contract
I think you are missing some other important context
Quietly the deepest FWD group in the league as well, if I recall my HF reading.

Would you trade Rantanen for that package?

The Avs would add several 1sts. But Byram has elite talent. The Avs adding several firsts are due to his injury history. The Avs have no reason not to part with several firsts (or any of their prospects).

As a Vancouver fan I wouldn't blame in the least. This org is somehow still completely dysfunctional even after cleaning house, so until Aqua moves on I expect it to continue to be a shit show.

Oof. yay! more rampant speculation! That's what we need more of.....

TBH, Russo could be out to lunch but this is the exact kind of commentary that stirs up anxiety among an already frustrated fanbase.

Am I worried? yeah. a bit. Have I been following this team for over 30 years and feeling worse about them than I did in the (mercifully) short-lived Messier era? Yup! Would I want to work in a potentially toxic, rudderless environment in the peak of my career? Hell no.

Ugh. So....this could be thing. It may not be. No way to know until ink hits the paper or a trade happens.
Not a fun time for Canucks fans.

Not sure if you are agreeing with me or not, but if not, watch the actual "incident" and not whatever clickbait is out there. Russo was a big part of that crap

Or maybe other teams just weren't interested in Miller at that price?

It was pretty obvious for anyone outside of the pacific northwest that Miller's numbers were inflated and he has always had locker room issues.
With one year left on his deal, during a season he had 99 points, pretty sure he would get Vancouver a 1st .

Ben chiarot got a first lol

Extremely vague and speculative still

Yes, his entire comment on the subject is vague and speculative.

Again, his full quote is below. Appears that he's heard some inside information which he can't divulge for whatever reason that makes him think that EP will want to move on. Now does this mean he'll ask out this season, next season or even at all? Of course not. Does it mean that whatever Russo heard (if even true) can't be rectified and EP could still commit long-term? Of course not either.

Given everything I know about Russo though, I don't think he's just making this stuff up out of thin air for no good reason. He just doesn't strike me as the type of person to do that. He also prefaces the comment as being a gut feeling mixed with some knowledge of the situation, so he's not saying that he's actually heard that EP does in fact want to move on.

We'll see how this all plays out, but I personally don't think that Russo would put this out there without having heard something that he believes to be credible. But he's also not suggesting any type of request from EP is remotely imminent.

His full comment:

"My gut says Elias is going to want to move on. That's just my gut. Gut and a little bit of knowledge."

"As Wild fans know, if I say something it's usually because I got a...like...I don't just throw stuff out there. It's never been my style. I just think that with Pettersson, there's some behind the scenes stuff there that would probably want to make him go elsewhere."

I hope that’s not true and very disappointed if it is. He’s a good player there and should be part of their core. He is the core.

Meh, we haven't won anything with him or any of the other players we have.

If you're the best player on the team, your job is to help others get better.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of that going on...

Just rebuild already.

I’m not taking this seriously just because he literally says it’s a gut feeling and a little bit of knowledge, but we’ll find out in July. I wouldn’t be too upset, nor would I be surprised. We’re easily the biggest poverty franchise in the league right now.
