Uh What?
JT Miller was def a problem in the Rangers dressing room. Maturity issues were always apparent when he was in NY.
I will just never understand that Miller signing. They could have started their rebuild so well trading Miller, Horvat, Kuzmenko. Now if Elias wants out, they would get a haul for him.
4-5 first round picks from those places ++++
That Miller signing just made it all weird
That comment was a long time ago, doubtful his agent would be saying otherwise if it was still truePettersson also said he wants to play for a competitive team. The Canucks haven’t been competitive for a very long time.
Never really heard of it, didn't get to be big news.
It was April 2, 2014 — J.T. Miller’s second pro season — and the New York Rangers were fed up.
Miller had missed curfew on the road in Vancouver. He was sent home early on a lonely commercial flight and demoted to Hartford for the sixth time that season as punishment.
“AV (Alain Vigneault) came out with a quote in the media that if I don’t figure it out on and off the ice I’ll be nothing but an AHL player or something along those lines and that hurt,” Miller said to The Athletic. “In a nutshell, it was: ‘Get your shit together, it’s time to be a pro here. You’re not a baby anymore.’ I was supposed to be taking the next step and I wasn’t.
Wishful thinking. There’s no way Pettersson commits to this trash team long-term until they can prove they can compete. His agent is saying the right things for his financial interests and keeping options open, but Pettersson has already openly said he does not want to play for a non-playoff team. And why would he?That comment was a long time ago, doubtful his agent would be saying otherwise if it was still true
Then you negotiate. You're selling the valued asset. Not selling is a failure.Or maybe other teams just weren't interested in Miller at that price?
It was pretty obvious for anyone outside of the pacific northwest that Miller's numbers were inflated and he has always had locker room issues.
If true, I don't blame him at all. This is the worst organization in sports currently.Vancouver fans literally actually unironically on suicide watch
Who knows.Wishful thinking. There’s no way Pettersson commits to this trash team long-term until they can prove they can compete. The issue is obviously JT Miller. There is zero love or respect between the two.
I think they have one more season to change Pettersson’s mind, as they can hire a new coach and free up some cap space for the last year of Petey’s deal. Next season will be huge for his future imo.Who knows.
I have 0 confidence management will handle this right. It’s very clear what needs to be done.
It's not even remotely the same reason why Horvat hasn't re-signed. The JT Miller signing is the reason Horvat isn't signed. Why would a very competitive athlete want to play for a continuously shitty and dysfunctional organization? He’s not going to waste his prime years here with no playoffs. It’s the same reason Horvat hasn’t re-signed.
If his agent was saying the right things, it would be more about Pettersson wanting out to start drumming up a bidding war. Just like you see with every other agentWishful thinking. There’s no way Pettersson commits to this trash team long-term until they can prove they can compete. His agent is saying the right things for his financial interests and keeping options open, but Pettersson has already openly said he does not want to play for a non-playoff team. And why would he?
This is the funniest thing I have ever read on this f***ing website. Not sure why. The 9 year rebuild is right on course with a top 30 prospect pool and a team CONSTANTLY competing for a top 25 spot in the league while being to the cap max every year and only 4.5 years left on scratched OEL and his $7.2 million contract
You try to extend him the year before and if he doesn't accept you move him for a return. That's all fine and dandy until the guy walks the following year and your team has nothing to show for it.
You trade him for value before he walks. You don't have to hang onto him until he leaves if he isn't willing to sign longer term. They’d probably be better off treating that RFA like an asset that can bring value back for their franchise instead.
Play it out your way. He signs his QO and walks away for nothing because you were too stubborn? You really showed that RFA who can now choose anywhere at any contract while you let a top asset go for nothing.
That GM isn’t employed very long.
Teams don’t do what you suggest because they’re trying to maximize the return for the asset. Not let him walk.
Sure but maybe he doesn't want it in Vancouver???Weren’t we just hearing about him wanting the “Barzal” deal? So many contradictory stories in hockey.
