Things get wierder. Timmins was getting healthy and now on LTIR

Retroactive.... which is why we can do it. It doesn't mean he got worse, it just means he still isn't fit to play, and the cumulative days he's been off make him eligible for LTIR. We didn't have to put him on LTIR previously, as we didn't need the space.

I get the depth angle, the rugged angle, the experience angle. All fine by me. Cost is about right for this kinda guy
It’s the other shoe dropping I’m not clear on.
Seems there’s maybe low expectations on Gio to play again. Maybe that’s it for him. Timmins isn’t close, by the sounds. Maybe Lili’s injury is causing more problems than is being reported. Extra lefties. No righty with term.
What’s next?
Interestingly, I feel like Edmundson might be a good stay at home thug defenseman to partner with Lili, handle some of the heavier physical lifting, role modeling, that kinda thing.
But Brodie?
Curious to see what’s next.
Also don’t mind the idea of extending one of these guys.

Brodie shouldn't even see the ice come playoff time. As for McCabe. By what metric is he better than Edmundson??

Are the trades for Boosh and Edmundson a waste of assets? Perhaps.

But something had to give. The team needs help on the back end badly, and might as well grab some depth in the hopes they have a lengthy playoff run. Which as we have seen in the cap era, pretty much any team can go on a long run if they hit their stride at the right time.

We'll likely wish for the picks in hindsight, but I'm okay with dealing off lesser picks to add to the team by "nibbling around the edges" than blowing yet another 1st on a guy who is nowhere near that value.

A 3rd and 5th is cheap for a big bodied experienced depth defenceman. We don’t have the assets to get that 2D since we don’t want to part with the few young prospects we have. Let’s see if Tre is working on something before we crucify him. In the meantime, we’ve gotten bigger and chippier on D.
