strome = slow.

slow mind and slow legs.

and as far as offensive production goes, he was absent that day....

hes a good pk guy and pretty smart player.

hes got moves like a sloth in winter.

Maybe it becomes another Brian Boyle scenario... we get a former highly touted first round pick that we turn into a stellar fourth line player

The glass of water I'm drinking is currently half full btw

ryan strome is bad. i mean real bad.

hes slow and unable to drive any offense what so ever.

anyone here thinking this is good will soon think ryan spooner wasnt that bad

I like this move, it makes a slow ass player like Lias look much faster. I have to give Gorton a lot of credit for covering up the #7 overall draft pick.

Remember when you're in the woods with your friends and see a bear, you don't have to outrun the bear, just your slowest friend!

I'm fine with it, I was hopeful spooner would work out here but he hasnt, Strome can now come in and fill Letterri's spot or could play center if needed. Hes right handed, can play all positions. Spooner at this point was dead weight, its a gamble but for this team I think we got the better player as Spooner was basically the odd man out.

I wouldn't claim this to be a coup by any means, but I like it.

Strome is a little younger and a little better, and Quinn has done an excellent job of getting more out of players to this point; maybe he can help Strome find another gear.

I think this trade is a good example of why we shouldn't be freaking out when 'player x' gets more or less ice time than 'player y'. Spooner got a lot of top6 looks, but it's obviously not because Quinn was just that enamoured with him.

As much as AV may have soured the word for us, the next couple seasons truly are going to be a process.

Spooner was overpaid. He's offensively talented but he's a perimeter player who doesn't backcheck all that well. Hopefully Strome turns out better but I'm not sure he will.

Thoughts:

1) Strome is younger
2) Strome historically has a higher offensive upside
3) Strome is RHS
4) even though deal is salary neutral, should be cheaper for us or anyone else to extend Strome - that adds value
5) i was right about Spooner getting us a (former) 1st round pick
6) he’s #18, so maybe Staal is on way out

You shouldn’t be running at all.
