They didn't have an ex-Leaf on d with Ceci traded and Dermott lost on waivers so he fills a need for them.
Stecher/Brown most likely.Who does he replace? Emberson, Stecher, or Kulak?
No, but a trial run doesn't hurt. If he sucks, he gets waived.Did they also acquire a time machine?
Surprised to see so much negativity surrounding a free right handed bottom pairing D that can be a PP specialist. With the right deployment he could work out just fine.
Working teams can still improve. We really don't want Stecher or Brown getting playoff ice time. And if Bouchard were to get injured, we had no powerplay defenseman, so if Klingberg is healthy, he does check some boxes. If.This won't end well... why "fix" working team?
The fact that Brown has received ice time at all is the real problem.Huh?
Stetcher played last night, Josh Brown did not

Well... The Oilers got him, so that should be self-explanatory lol
I expect Stecher to be the number 8 d-man by the time the deadline passes and that's a decent place for him to slot. Josh brown is a flat out minor leaguer, we should never see that guy in the NHL again.Working teams can still improve. We really don't want Stecher or Brown getting playoff ice time. It's ok, Bouchard has already dropped his value immensely this year.If he does well they can trade Bouchard and not give him that contract they'll regret.
I was just thinking this exactly. Having Klinger and Stecher as our 7/8 for the playoffs would be pretty good.I expect Stecher to be the number 8 d-man by the time the deadline passes and that's a decent place for him to slot. Simply this but this is a thread on HF so for another 10 pages we'll be reading "oIlErS gOnNa oIL"If you're getting Klingberg from 5-10 years ago...this could be good. If he's no good, he's at least easily waived.
So you're thinking
Ek Bouch
Nurse Kling
I mean if you are Edmonton, why not? You RHD depth after Bouch is Emberson and Stecher. If he stinks he sits, if he's still got gas left, you've added another puck-mover to your line-up.
I think Emberson has been too good defensively to worry about this. His spot is secure. This is true, our RHD depth sucks, but I just don't see where Klingberg fits in even if he does work out as a decent #5/6. Brett Kulak has been doing a really good job the right side, but that isn't his forte, so the goal should be to upgrade at that spot which would push him down to #3LD. However Kulak is also a pretty solid (and very underrated IMO) puck mover, and he'll lose some of that if he has to babysit Klingberg.
The template is this right now:
Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-???
Kulak-Emberson
Stecher
Klingberg will realistically end up fighting with Ty Emberson and Troy Stecher for a job then. I guess it's nice to have depth, but if the goal is to find a #4 too eventually, we'll have too many bodies and a player we don't want to lose will end up on waivers.
It just seems unnecessary to me. I don't know, I guess we'll see.
That's not true. Who is our powerplay defenseman if Bouchard gets injured? We have none. Now we have one. It also hopefully let's us send Josh Brown back to Bakersfield. He is not an NHL defenseman.I just don't understand why. He brings less of everything they already have and none of what they need.
The same surgery that P. Kane came back successfully from, so I guess you never know...Ahh yes a guy who went through a surgery known to slow players down
