Complete opposite , he's actually pretty good offensively, tire fire everywhere else

Agreed - but if it’s close to league minimum, it’s certainly to cover injuries at the least. If Bouchard is injured, Emberson/Stetcher are not adequate enough depth for a playoff run.

And if by chance he works out well, you can now shift your goal at the deadline and use that LTIR space.

seeing if he can return to his old healthy form is a question to be answered and we don't need him for the top 4, if he can provide solid play in bottom pairing and improve our Dcore depth for close to 1m? thats a big win.

in one month a RD of his similar qualities will be costing GM's picks or prospects. If 7 teams were interested in him as reported, they must have all seen something

He's Tyson Barrie. Good grief. Agree about league minimum but we both know it won't be that. I hope I'm wrong but that contract announcement has comedy gold written all over it.lol

Short term- probably Stecher? I'm guessing he'll get a shot with Nurse on the right side, which isn't a big deal since Kulak rotates into that role quite frequently.

Post deadline, I don't think the plan is for him to be a regular. We have no depth on our blueline- If Bouchard goes down, our right side is Stecher-Emberson-Josh Brown, with guys like Alec Regula as callups. The Oilers just need more bodies on the blueline who have experience playing at the NHL level.

He is the polar vortex opposite of that.

If it’s more than $1.5m, it’s overpay. If there’s a NMC then we’re totally f’d.

Stecher is good against not so physical teams. If we draw the Avs he will play for sure.
 
The Oilers have actually had some pretty decent success lately with adding these random washouts midseason.

But I can't say I have a ton of confidence that's going to continue with this one.
