Ride on Bison King.

Hope you find your coordination along the way.

Too bad it didn't work out for you here, lost massive potential.

Yamamoto is an easy buyout this summer. Save 2.67M in cap this summer for the cost of 533K in cap room in 2024-25 when the cap should see the biggest jump in five seasons at that point.

I saw this too.

IMO - a no brainer, but it's Holland so "loyalty, blah, blah, blah."

As quick as Jesse somehow accepted/ got it, that his level of play is more accumulating in a bottom six role, he didnt sink the elite players, and became a somewhat player, who could stress opposition. From here it can go upstairs for him. Wish him luck.

His dissapointing tenure isnt all his fault, its just as much on scouting, GMs idiotic thinking and imagination, and player handling, and a whole lot of Todd McLellan handling the newconing non english speaking guy like an idiot...

Still its 50% on himself, its always p to yourself wich direction you chose, and what you train for. Jesse hardly practice on his hands, puckhandling and shooting. Got easily stressed in big situations and scoring cjances thanks to that, he didnt have that comfort in his own hands a NHLer usually has.

And my final word is, yes Ive been hard at Jesse, because I think he trains wrong! But I also like the guy, and see some good tools and charaistics. If he trained harder in the offensive part of the game, and his shot, I could see him being a 20 goal scorer with a good defensive game, but he will always be have bit suspect game, thats just how he is.
Maybe Todd handled him that way because he is an idiot ... the guy has the smarts of a bag of hammers. That can't be fixed, and I believe he will always be less than his draft pedigree because of it. Physically he has the tools to standout in lesser leagues, in the NHL his limitations are what stand out.

I get it though, it's easy to cheer for the big dumb guy.

GM ans scouts are just as dumb if they cant see dumb because of size and boxscores. That is forum fanboy level. Its embarassing.
He was never a star, he was never a playmaker even if he got a lot of assists, he was just a big fast skating young guy.
It wss like the opposite of a Håkan Andersson scouting where playing sense, smarts, hands, passing game, senses is what he was looking for. In Jesse, they took size and thought they could fill that size with hockeysmarts. The Jesse Puljujärvi top five projjection draftspectacle (by all scouts) is everything thats wrong with North american hockey thinking. Yeah, cant teach size, but size is just a small small part of being a good hockey player. Cant teach senses either. You eother have it or not.

Question do we actually save 3m in cap? since the season is 3/4 over already and Jesse will be a UFA
$562,500 before the trade.

I wish we could have got something more for him. I don't know much about Patrik Puistola. His numbers seem decent in Liiga, hopefully he can make it in the NHL. Getting the 3 mill in cap space is nice lets hope they spend it wisely.....

I didn't realize Larsson was still apart of the Oilers organization

But you did ignore the 329 games Larsson played for the Oilers. Why?

Honesty is a good thing.

Oilers Have essentially traded Taylor Hall, Nail Yakupov, and Jesse Puljujarvi for 329 games of Adam Larsson, Stuart Skinner and Patrik Puistola.

That is a far more honest assessment of what the Oilers traded those three players.

You do understand that Larsson played 329 games for the Oilers I hope.

Jesse scored 24G in his 54GP in Liiga. Puistola with 15-16 goals per full season is not that sexy but I didn’t check how his minutes/line mates compared.
No hope for Puistola but at least we have cap

The numbers don’t mean much.

It’s all about how their game translates and obviously Jesse’s didn’t.

I wouldn’t bet against a smart, skill guy like Puistola.

Something tells me that JP is going to fit like a glove for the Canes. This seems like a win-win trade for both teams. Hope Ken keeps buzzin today and until the deadline!

I'd say 2M is reasonable. This is a stat down season for him but he'll have some bounceback to that and has learned to bring his physical package, and consistently.
It would be reasonable in normal times but the team is in a situation where every penny counts. Cap saving to make bigger moves have to come from somewhere and right now Foegele, Yamamoto and recently JP would have targets on their backs. I could see the same thing applying to Barrie, Foegele and Kulak as well.

Because as of 2021, there are 0 assets in the Edmonton Oilers organization that have resulted from the Taylor Hall trade. That trade tree ended 2 years ago

Disappointed to see him go but glad he went to Carolina. Hope he does well there.
