Let it be said that Pulju was leading the team in hits all season, was being pretty good bottomsix, and was playing bottomsix almost exclusively.

Pulju had a goal and 3 assists in his last 9GP here. Nothing great but some contribution for a bottoms player.

The Oilers now become even softer to play against, Pulju with Kostin, they were a wrecking pair last night although Pulju got sat again while allstar Yama got 20mins, and topsix play for being absolutely useless and is still here.

I didn't even like Pulju originally that much but did after he came back and that Tippett helped make a player out of him during that tenure. Pulju for whatever reason never adjusted to the coaching change. Seems like he always got shorted by it as well. Wish him luck.

Maybe the second best team in the league knows something that one of the worst run teams doesn't.
Yeah. Properly coached Pulju will be a solid bottomsix player and a headache to play against as he's very strong, good on board battles, hits a lot, and can probably even be on pk an aspect of his game that the Oilers for whatever reason barely even tried. This is a manageable contract and its only for remainder of season. I think the Canes needed to get a bit bigger..

Agreed, good luck to Jesse I hope he has a long and productive career. Great kid
Honestly I think he's gonna thrive in Carolina with his buddies Aho/Teravainen and the trade will most likely go down as a loss for the Oilers down the road. But it opens up the cap space to get a top 4 dman and as long as we do so I'll be more than fine with losing a minor trade involving a 3rd line RW.

Unless something dramatically changed, there was no win for the Oilers moving Puljujarvi, this is probably as close to one as possible imo.

Replacing him on the roster shouldn't be too tough. I wonder if Lavoie finally gets a call now.

If Holland done this trade 2 years ago, he would at least got a 3rd for him.

Face palm Holland.
We got cap space for him ... very important leading into the deadline.

Where Puljunarvi's cheerleader now? He was celebrating the rumor of Oilers potentially resigning Puljujarvi a few days back. Looking forward to rubbing this in a tad.

Awaiting another trade.

If JP was making $1.5M or less he'd still be an Oiler. Unfortunately, he and Yamamoto have both likely priced themselves off the team.

he probably resigns at a bargain price in Raleigh. He may yet reinvent himself as a fast checking winger.

yup

I really wanted him to succeed in Edmonton. I remember the shock when he fell in the draft. But both for the player and for the organization it was time to move on.

I feel pretty much the same. I really thought he had some potential with that body and speed once he got wound up. But his game didn't evolve, even after the hip surgery, and it remains to be seen whether that potential and determination to stick exists at this level. It will be interesting to see how he does with Carolina. I will be surprised if he carves out a role for himself there. Hope he does well though. Such a great goofy kid that used to make me laugh quite a bit.

I don't know about this. Pulju had 112 hits this season on limited minutes being the top hitter on the club on a team that doesn't hit nearly enough. He was physical to play with and on the forecheck. The Oilers physically got weaker today and they're weak physically to begin with. Doesn't bode well for playoffs.

FFS

Yeah, need to find a coke machine to fix the toughness issue I guess. Woof man.

As quick as Jesse somehow accepted/ got it, that his level of play is more accumulating in a bottom six role, he didnt sink the elite players, and became a somewhat player, who could stress opposition. From here it can go upstairs for him. Wish him luck.

His dissapointing tenure isnt all his fault, its just as much on scouting, GMs idiotic thinking and imagination, and player handling, and a whole lot of Todd McLellan handling the newconing non english speaking guy like an idiot...

Still its 50% on himself, its always p to yourself wich direction you chose, and what you train for. Jesse hardly practice on his hands, puckhandling and shooting. Got easily stressed in big situations and scoring cjances thanks to that, he didnt have that comfort in his own hands a NHLer usually has.

And my final word is, yes Ive been hard at Jesse, because I think he trains wrong! But I also like the guy, and see some good tools and charaistics. If he trained harder in the offensive part of the game, and his shot, I could see him being a 20 goal scorer with a good defensive game, but he will always be have bit suspect game, thats just how he is.

Basicly nothing. Puistola is too feeble to play in the NHL or in the AHL. He can score but needs to space to do so. In Liiga that is possible but not over there.
Jesse scored 24G in his 54GP in Liiga. Puistola with 15-16 goals per full season is not that sexy but I didn’t check how his minutes/line mates compared.
No hope for Puistola but at least we have cap

I'd say 2M is reasonable. This is a stat down season for him but he'll have some bounceback to that and has learned to bring his physical package, and consistently.

Player hasn't wanted to be here for years and Woodcroft clearly isn't a fan of the player.

He would be gone regardless of the number he was getting paid on his contract. If he was making 1.5 mill or less, it would have just facilitated a trade long before now.

Pulju is around top 50 in forward hits in NHL despite getting limited minutes. The likelihood that the Oilers find somebody to do that other than Kostin is slim to nil. He's really the only other forward that even brings that package on the whole club.

We just got even easier to play against. Meanwhile we have a smurf like Yama playing 20mins a night making the topsix shorthanded any time he's out there.

Yeah. This trade was just to dump Pulju to the Canes really for nothing. Puistola was just some ink on the paper. 99,99% chance the Oilers will not sign him and just let his rights expire.
