Frederic is one of those guys that can play when he wants. Skates well for big guy, good shot, will drop the mitts occasionally. It was simply a consistency issue, so at 27 maybe a fresh start will help. Maybe not. We'll see.

Maybe a change of scenery will bring life to him, but Frederic hasn't been any energy player this season. For a guy whose was 2nd on our team in hits, you wonder where the hits came from because he didn't seem to play physical.

I certainly hope so! His previous stat lines look promising. But stats are easy to miss context.

I hope he fits in, and if he does that he sticks around!

This is not Frederic either. Perhaps he wakes up in Edmonton.

My understanding, and it could be wrong, is that LaChance's Dad works for the Devils.

Frederic is a big dude with some skill who lacks compete. Skates around chirping with a goofy grin, and occasionally fights. That's what he has been in Boston.

Seems like an odd move to give up what the Oilers did for an injured player who has been having a lackluster season and is on IR and week to week this late in the season. Once healthy I don't see him fitting in well with the style of the Oilers, but I guess there's always the chance a change of scenery will reinvigorate him.

Boston was smart to not re-sign him and get decent value for a player that never panned out as hoped.

Is LaChance a legit prospect? Confused why the Devils are involved here without even getting a pick
New Jersey picked up 25% of Frederic's remaining salary for this season and sent unsigned prospect Petr Hauser ( 4th round pick - 141st overall in 2022 ) to Edmonton which is how they ended up with LaChance.

Lol yes I understand the "how" it's the "why" that has me confused. Seems like they're doing this favour for basically a nothing prospect
