I’d love Laughton if he could be had for less than a 1st. same with Ferraro.

I’d give up a lot (Danielson/Kasper + 2x1sts +) for a signed Rantanen but I don’t know why Rantanen would sign with us while holding out on signing with the Canes. You gotta assume he is a pure rental play in which case I’m out. I’m not giving up a 1st + for a rental.

Don't love the getting rid of cap space to get a 4th that also improves a team within the division. I don't want Steve going crazy or anything, but using the space to actually improve the team would be nice. This move makes it seem like selling is more the idea yet again.

I'd take evander kane from edm for free if it was possible. If he comes back he can help us and if we come to an agreement with him we'd try to flip him in the summer to a contender at 50% I'd think someone would give us a late 1st we can then use on someone else

You know a center available for the long haul? Market is what it is, I can't force teams to put premiere players on the table at the TDL.

I guess it also depends on if you think the Red Wings need a band-aid right now or are they all good for the rest of this playoff push???

I wouldn't give up a 1st rdp or major prospects for those guys, but I'd call and try. For whatever reason I think Laughton could do well and maybe better than Copp with DeBrincat/Kane. He'd bring some physical chippyness/grit to a team with almost none.

*ALSO; Yzerman can blast Tarasenko to Florida any moment now. We're cool with helping other playoff teams so there's not a huge reason to not ship him out unless it's Florida that doesn't want him. 6th rdp, 7th, future considerations, whatever. Teams better with the open roster spot/money. Straight up.

This draft absolutely stinks, the 2025 1st should absolutely be on the table.

Even so, having a guy stapled to the first line and potting 80-90 points is a pretty good problem to have.

Resources for acquisition is one thing. But I'd be thrilled to have the player.

IMO, Colorado did it right. Rebuilt the rebuild and got MacKinnon and Makar. I don’t think Detroit has that level of talent on the team or pipeline. Detroit very well might be a squishy middle team until they rebuild again. Question is, how long do they wait?
