The Panthers give me 2020-21 Habs vibes. Opportunistic team that is riding the high of a 3-1 series comeback. Getting all world goaltending when it matters the most.

I will say the Panthers are far less fraudulent then the 2020-21 Habs, but to some degree there is an element of that. Gotta respect their compete level. I hate Matt Tkachuck, always have, but my god is that f***ing guy a gamer. It's like he was built in a lab somewhere.

We are going to have to be incredibly focused to beat this Panthers team. I feel like they are a team that can really open you up when you're down in the game. Especially when they are getting the goaltending that they have been getting. They inspire their opposition to press for more, and counter when they don't succeed. It's a dice roll that they seem to be on the winning end of as of late. Hopefully that doesn't continue.

We have to stay within our structure. Slow the game down. Stop playing into their game. We can win a track meet, but I am not sure FLA can hang with us if we slow things down.

Hopefully we make the right adjustments tonight and we can even things up! It's not a "must win" like lots are making it out to be. But it certainly is a game we want to be on the better end of.

When Staal is on the ice we need to dominate.

Not a single player from their D scares me.
Leafs just need to keep at them, keep getting chances

Still need more out of O'Reilly, Tavares and Nylander
Not just shots but actual play. Be intentional with the puck, manage the posession

Gio worries me. Brodie was bad but Brodie is not super slow

We lost Game 1 vs. Montreal as well and then won 3 in a row. This current group doesn't blow that Montreal series.

I know it's really really tempting for this Leafs' team to just play a trade scoring chances type of series with the Panthers. Don't do it. Limit their scoring chances. Don't get lulled into the complacency of a low hit, lower intensity playoff series.
Leafs need to take a page out of Tampa's book. Tampa swept these guys last year, Florida had no answer to their highly disciplined and structured system, and their defense and goaltending got chewed apart.

We had full momentum and control of the game until the collapse from McCabe and Brodie. McCabe pinches, low percentage play, Brodie doesn't commit to keeping the puck up or going back to defend stuck in no mans land, 3-2 game.

That was the turning point of the game, I'm sure the coaching staff has broken it down. I expect a much stronger structured defensive effort tonight.

They were one fortunate OT deflection goal away from winning that series and one missed OT deflection away from playing a game 7 in the 2023 Tampa series.

Exactly. The Panthers aren't a very disciplined group and this Leafs' team had some semblance of a disciplined defensive team over the past season. I hope the Leafs use that advantage.

Keefe continues to play with fire. They finally got some bounces against TB. Take it and run. But I want to see the team that controls play and puck possession. Take it too them. Don't rely on a bounce to go their way. Leave no doubt.

Not sure how that loss is on Keefe. Other than the PP not capitalizing but we did have some great chances

It will be Keefes fault though if we don't come out with energy tonight. We have to be ready to go

Almost a must win. Just f***ing work. Non stop.

In NHL playoff history, teams that have lost the first two games of a best-of-seven series have come back to win the series 18.8% of the time (based on data up to the end of the 2021 playoffs).

To put this in perspective, out of the 339 teams that have gone down 0-2 in a best-of-seven series, only 64 teams have managed to come back and win the series. The most recent team to accomplish this feat was the Montreal Canadiens in the 2021 playoffs, when they overcame a 0-2 deficit to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs in seven games in the first round.

Wrong. Montreal did not trail 0-2. It was a split after the first 2 games. Point stands, though. It’s been pretty bizarre later, though. Last round, only 25% of teams that won game 1 won the series. Isn’t historically it’s something like 60% of teams that go on to win after winning game 1? Also, 50% of teams trailing 0-2 in the last round came back to win. Way higher than the historical average you presented. So who the f*** knows anymore?

Also New Jersey literally did it against the Rangers a few days ago (coming back from 0-2)

Great GDT, good job on it

Those lines though, lots of peeps gonna be disappointment, cause dey lookin for da Captain to be playing on the junk line!

Where's that guy who posts with the fuhschizzle on his drizzle

GLG

Leafs need to use their top offensive guys to exploit the Panthers defense. Using anyone of them as containment is a strategic mistake. Keefe pulled that shit early last game and it was a waste.
Hammer that D like a f***ing nail. Hit them until you think they are dead and then hit them some more. Make the Panthers D think twice about joining into the offensive plays.
You forgot the "don't let em breathe" there Mick!:naughty:

Seriously though, jump on their D and paint the boards with em. Cycle their end and get in on Bob, push him around lots of sticks fishing for pucks, make him forget about stopping pucks
