I think they need a little more speed, too.

Bigger concern is containing their top line. Do they go with the three Matt’s, Austin, Knies and Door.
Leafs need to use their top offensive guys to exploit the Panthers defense. Using anyone of them as containment is a strategic mistake. Keefe pulled that shit early last game and it was a waste.
Hammer that D like a f***ing nail. Hit them until you think they are dead and then hit them some more. Make the Panthers D think twice about joining into the offensive plays.

Just get the W.

They need to attack but just be smart about it and when their forwards are in the Leafs zone forechecking ... our offensive guys need to be back more and support the D to get it out quicker. If they do that the goals are coming.

Yep.

Make Florida chase the game for a change.

They are 5-0 in these playoffs when scoring first in the game.
Yup. Funny how that works...

Leafs are clearly capable of come backs but you can't do that every game.

They switched Marner and Nylander last game to go head to head with the Tkachuk line last game.

I'd like them to move Marner to the O'Reilly line and match them against Tkachuk and let Matty's line focus on scoring.

And give Tavares the grinders he's needs to work his down low game.

Knies-Matthews-Nylander
Jarnkrok-O'Reilly-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Acciari
Kerfoot-Kampf-Lafferty
love the bottom two lines. would just switch Matthews and OReilly. loved how the Knies O'Reilly Nylander line looked

Their zone exits is my main criticism of Gio. Defensively, I didn't think he was awful but a lot of his clearing shots/passes got intercepted at the blue line.

The dog that bounces the ball down the stairs predicts a Leafs win tonight.

Followed by a loss Sunday.

Then 3 straight to close it out.

He did predict the Leafs to beat Tampa so I am rolling with it!

PP is where they all need to learn how to pull the trigger more and faster.
This team should be exiting PP opportunities with 5-6 shots on net...not 1-2
Fair enough but they controlled the play well and bob made some good saves. Forsure need to start converting more.

100%, it's hard to get the grade A chances with the increased intensity/pressure in the playoffs. You need to be thinking shot and letting it fly when you do get a chance instead of trying to find a better one.

f*** Tkachuk and Bennett, let Maurice worry about matching them. We have 3 solid lines that are capable of playing against them. If they become that much of a problem, put Marner/Matthews back together and let Tkachuk worry about defending against them, instead of the other way around.

Tkachuk is a f***ing beast though.
Do they have three capable lines?

Dictating play was a problem in RD 1 and I don’t think they’re going to get as many soft goals in this series.
FL is on heater right now so they have to find a way to cool them down.

Slight problem if their stars outscore our stars. I'd go line #1 vs line #1. If we have the puck in their end, Tkachuk can't hurt you on the score sheet much.
But that is supposed to be the reason we can ice 3 lines, Matthews, JT and ROR with any combination of Marner/Knies/Nylander on them. Tkachuk can’t defend 3 lines himself.

Too much control in my opinion. Watching the play cycle 3 or 4 times without a shot is painful
They had possession and lots of quick passes, but only a few to the bumper slot position, and no cross seam passes that I can think of.

Because their top line is really good and the Leafs have more than a few guys that are not interested in preventing the puck from going in their net.
It’s not like Tkachuk scored 4 goals against us. Vegas and Seattle didn’t seem bothered. We need to play our game and let them worry about stopping us.
