Why would Bergy go to Montreal? Didn't he grow up a Nordiques fan absolutely hating the Habs. Doesn't seem like a spot that he'd be interested in
he as agent ties, I believe his agent ? ex agent now? is the gm? asst gm? I forget exactly. Still gnashing my teeth over this one. Stings.

The ONLY way I could see Bergy in Montreal next year is if he is retired and wants to take on a front office job with a French team.

It makes no sense for him to go to the 32nd ranked team at 37 years old.
I think he has plenty to offer still.
For any team getting Patrice at his age gets you either a #1 or #2 center plus a pk specialist.

Why Montreal? Because as Vito Corleone said "I'm going to give him an offer he can't possibly refuse."
Montreal needs to re-establish themselves and they WILL go after him. And if they do, it'll likely be more than what we are going to offer.

Plus...Quebec is home.

Yeah I've always said that you don't get 2011 without the collapse that came before it. Being terrible forced ownership's hand to actually change things, be bolder and go in a new direction, and we got a Cup out of it. But then complacency set in again and we're right back to the usual way of doing things in this organization, which has probably cost us at least one more championship and led us back to this lingering stretch of good but not good enough teams that we've seen many many times before.

You hate to admit it, and it's going to be rough for awhile, and risky, but the bottom needs to fall out for Boston again. Change up the management, have a good look at what you've got on the roster, keep what's best and most essential, and then clean house and build afresh from there. Maybe it doesn't work and all goes to hell. But I'd rather try that than just keep up these mediocre seasons where the team's living a lot on hope and a 'you never know' mentality without being a genuine heavyweight contender.
^^^ This is as real as it gets!!!!

Cassidy needs to get the axe. He plays the defenseman to aggresively and we end up giving up too many odd-man rushes, breakaways and short-handed goals. He is always getting out-coached. We should have won 2 cups with the teams he has been given and now Bergy and Marchand have nothing to show for it, Fire Cassidy and hire Trotz.

Nonsense.

First, Montreal ain’t Québec.

Second, less than zero chance he signs with these losers who will DNQ for years.

Unless you are saying that Raanra's poor play is the only thing that kept this series close, then what the hell is your point. Clearly he played fantastic so give him some credit rather than criticizing the Bruins Jesus
raanta was excellent.
single handedly kept the bruins off the board in the first periid in games 1 5 and 7.
goaltending was the edge for them in this series.

He's also 34. The "future" first line without Bergy is Hall/XXX/Pasta.Hall/XXX/Pasta
Hammer/Mac Sway.
The rest is meh, or worse.
As NeelyOrr (I think) said, he's a superstar on an 2nd-liner contract. Without Bergy I trade him for a lot and move on (course that's up to him too). It's the end of an era, blow it up and start over.
Edit: my bad, it was Jean_Jacket (I think!)
I DO NOT want Sweeney brokering that deal.

The two that underperformed Hall and Smith need to take a long look in the mirror they were terrible
You can add Gryz in there too -5
Hall is just not a big time player. He's a good player, and you can win a championship with him but he just won't lead you to one.

Bruins too soft, too slow, and too willing to let opponents have time and space up high. Cassidy made an already good Canes D look like hall of famers back there.

Tampa and Carolina play the way the Bruins used to.

No respect for the opposition. Take everything away and dare them to make a play.

Bruins are back giving time and space and thats just a recipe for disaster.

On top of that a soft forecheck just means the opponents have more in the tank than the Bruins at the end of the game. It happened over and over again...

It really was infuriating watching how much space Canes had with the puck.
