No one is asking you to care about Detroit management.

It’s simply an example of how the illogical conclusion of Bruins management being content with 4 playoff dates each year is.
How many times the past five or six years has the Wings owner said the goal is the Stanley Cup? We are constantly told (and rightfully so) the Bruins are built to win the Cup. Yet the same people are still in charge with various promotions and the coaches take the fall

I’m looking forward to the early days here 2000 when I met everyone and we all met up at DC to watch Mark Stuart and Patrice Bergeron

Also no expectations of winning a Cup hoping to get in playoffs - and actually drafting

Bruins have barely drafted last 3 or 4 seasons

95 points and 8th seed let’s get to play spoiler

Try to keep up- not only did LV owner state that as his goal, he went out & hired competent hockey people to run his organization. He also didn't hesitate to make changes when the team didn't go in the direction he wanted. With the exception of the Chiarelli years it has been Boston's MO to hire former Bruins players for management & scouting positions (the old boys network) with the Jacobses taking a hands off approach to actually directing the team for the most part. Doing this has resulted in just 1 Cup in the nearly 50 years the Jacobs family has owned the team.
Chiarelli hired his effing brother. Old boys network?

Jesus.

That's where I was before this past season. I couldn't buy into it even with the season they had... been there done that. They always end up disappointing me. Except for 2011... but that was a dream, or feels like it. Since then it's mostly a one and done. The most cruel one was 2019. It's when I started to have a less positive vibe about the Bruins... now it doesn't entertain me no more. I still come here on occasion to read and laugh at the same excuse makers... but it's all in a "don't care no more" attitude... they'll always me my team. Only a new management, new identity, new players would bring back new hope. The last one retired already.
exactly the same feeling, little interest time to time , historic loosers and chockers ! enought
still « funny » to read all kind of excuses )))) loser gang that’s all nothing else to say

Over it and been over it.

I always prepare for the banana in the tailpipe with this organization. When you don’t expect them to win, it mitigates any disappointment.

I always plan to watch the rest of the playoffs, but as is typical, I watched maybe half of a game in the Final, if that.

Meh.

Students are done with school, but I’m still working half days. Megan still has another week, so I’m watching baby while at work.

Trying to piece together workouts when I can.
Making pretty good progress in the new Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom. Got the Master Sword and the retro armor.

Getting back into Star Trek as well. Finally took the plunge and got Paramount Plus. Started Picard last night and maybe I’ll give Strange New Worlds a go when I finish that.

Oblah Dee, Oblah Dah, life goes on.

Yeah for me the Bruins were the only favorite I had expectations for. No more. I’ll watch what I can this year and stop w the 70 games a seasons. The return on investment is minimal so whatever. The regular season is an exhibition for seeding. Has fun moments for sure, I love the sport, but for over a decade they can’t win as favorites and can’t win as underdogs.

Ty Anderson was on at 9 on Sports Hub - lot of good info and tidbits. You got 20 minutes worth a listen on the 98.5 library/replay for today

Jim Montgomery admitting he needs to be better prepared for playoffs next time caught my attention

That he was outcoached and didn’t put team in best chance to win obvious but atleast he is admitting

The Bergeron & goalie Bob games 5 and 6 deflections didn’t go over well - moreso with some than his lack of exploiting the sub standard Florida defense- and his mixing up lines in a clinching series game where in 86 games they never played together

Monty strength is building relationships and coaching young players so he’s got a lot to show this season as a handful of young players will be getting long looks - mostly forwards on bottom 6

I believe he has a good year

Even though you seem to admit this is illogical, you still try to push this stupid theory.
How can you call that stupid and Illogical ? If the Bruins miss the playoffs, heads will role, changes will be made, so its far from Illogical and as u say Stupid. Its pretty much spot on. Those 4 homes games is money, lots of money in ownership pocket.

Without question they would love a another Cup or a big Cup run, but saying their not content with making the playoffs is wrong. That surely isn't what they want but being content is exactly what it is, but if they miss the playoffs, that contentment goes away. They suffer at the gate and the following season ticket sales, and the snow ball gets in motion.

I haven’t read the board since loss in Gm 7. Kinda curious how creative Sweeney can be. He’s got some top end talent to deal; goalie, Hall and Gryz.

The ice won't get fixed until the B's get new owners or a new building. As explained by @Fenway the lower bowl needs to be ripped out. They had the rink guru from if I remember correctly Calgary and he said it couldn't be fixed without extensive rebuild. The humidity is the killer.
Seems like an easy fix to me.

If you've got 5 dehumidifiers lined up, just make those five narrower and add a 6th.

Boom, done.

if we had only hit tkachuk or even bennett like vegas did we prob win the cup.
i saw one hit on tkacuk the whole series and it was more a collision with mcavoy.
team is just charmin soft all around.
Definitely not a team that was built to win in the playoffs again.Personally hope there are a ton of changes on this team this offseason.Very few players I would say shouldn’t be traded especially with how some of them looked in these playoffs.

Thinking if Sweeney is going to move some players needs to be sooner rather than later

Over the last two seasons, how many teams that made the playoffs fired their GM's?

I'm thinking only Toronto.

Are the owners of all those teams content with making the playoffs?

If you love sports, why would you consider it an investment of time?
Because that's what it is? Ive watched 70 regular season games a year, or what 200+ hours, 3 nights a week minimum? I'm sorry but that's not worth winning one round in three years any longer, especially after this post season. They can't win as a favorite and can't win as an underdog, it's been ten years since 2013, they have one good run in a decade. I'm just not a shoulder shurgger when they get knocked out if they are better.

If you are watching the games simply to see the Bruins win a Cup then yes, that's an investment that is absolutely not worth it.

But I think most Bruins fans watch the games for the enjoyment of the game. So for us calling it an investment would be like calling vacation an investment.

All fine and dandy but good luck having as good of team for the playoffs next year if they even make them.
