When will people recognize Mika Zibanejad is overrated?
his one-timer is 100% over rated and he lost his 'killer' goal scoring instinct over the past couple seasons at 5v5.

some coaching would be nice. He never puts himself in prime position to shoot and the way the play is setup is comical.

Apparently having all these offensive weapons does not equal scoring. Also need some sort of a system and a coach who knows what he is doing.
Line balance is really important, loved getting Tarasenko, but we needed another winger with some grit and instead Kane fell in our lap. We needed someone with some tenacity to fish out pucks and force the D to turn.

The pure hockey fan in me loves this. These teams are going to do this for years. Both good, both young. So close

But this is excruciating

Difference is the Devil's have way better young talent and also have more talent in the pipeline. They will become better. A lot better. I don't see the Rangers becoming a lot better unless there is a miracle with Laf/KK

Why can't they just shoot low and go to the net for rebounds??? Stop shooting high and start shooting low or just above the pads. Why are they always making it complicated???

I agree with the vast majority of takes in this thread, but the common one I keep seeing is that Schmid is AHL level - I know some of that is hyperbolic sour grapes, but I’m fairly sure he will be a pretty solid goalie in this league for a good while. He’s 22, which is extremely young to start in the NHL and from what I’ve seen he has performed at, and exceeded expectations at almost every level.

Devils have also been terrible for close to a decade. When you are bad for that long you are bound to become good eventually, unless your the sabres (realistically I think they will be very good next year if Levi plays well)
