I hope that Andy Weidl is the voice of reason and that his experience in Philly (who hasn't drafted a RB in the 1st round since the 1980's) is somewhat emulated here. Since he's been here there's clearly been an emphasis on building the trenches and I want that to continue if the board works out for us this year.

I think the only reason he could possibly last would be the reason people wouldn’t be happy if he’s the pick. It’s a non premium position in a draft with a lot of good depth.

I didn’t look at the whole list of who interviewed him, but the Raiders, Cowboys, and Broncos seem like some realistic landing spots. 6 seems kind of rich but it’s kind of a shitty draft for high end talent so we may see some weird stuff happen.

I think I'd still expect him to go before the Steelers' pick but that interview list is making me look at that expectation again.

Beyond this play, ban all of the linemen pushing ball carriers forward. This has run rampant since the Matt Leinart/Reggie Bush push for USC 20 years ago.

You're a ball carrier or you're a blocker. You can't be a pusher. This isn't rugby. The play Philly dominates with is egregious, but the 8 yard gains becoming 12 yard gains because 330 lb linemen push the ballcarrier against 220 lb safeties is absurd. Get rid of all of it.
I'm not trying to nullify how great Philly is, that they were clearly within the rules, etc. This play just makes football worse.

I am 100% for banning the shove/pushing. Within the existing framework of the rules, it is analogous to the competitive advantage gained with “leverage” - which is banned on special teams. I would also argue against it on safety grounds since it exacerbates the helmet-to-helmet collisions the NFL has been trying to lessen.

Yeah, hence the may or may not. I'd have expected a bit more interest from some of the teams but there's a real good chance they tick the box later.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what Tomlin does well outside of his press conferences.

People say "he's great with the players". Well why is there in-fighting or people doing/saying weird shit in the media or among teammates year after year?

Tomlin has the biggest grift going next to Mike Sullivan.

Of course he gets the label "great with the players". He gives them free roam. Invites them to his house for dinners. It's like a country club up in there. How many times have we heard of multiple players being late for meetings? Hell even late for games?? They all buddy buddy.
Try some of the shit you here Steelers get away with under Bellichek. Harrison told a story of Tom Brady running to get to a meeting because he was scared to be late. Let that sink in lol. Meanwhile Tomlin when asked recently if Pickens was late, laughed it off, says I don't remember and makes it all a big joke.

2019 only had 3 WR go in the top 50 (Hollywood, NKeal Harry, Deebo Samuel) but then a bunch of mid to late round picks panned out (AJB, DK Metcalf, Diontae, Terry McLaurin).

Man looking back...I remember a few people here really liked the Diontae pick because he was supposedly similar to AB back when the Steelers still had a reputation for being a wr factory. Looking at that list, especially the 4 in brackets, woof...what a punt by Colbert and co.

Also, I'll legit puke if they draft another runningback in the first round, I don't care who it is, that's such a win now luxury pick, even if whoever was the next coming of Saquon. I'm quite confident the next runningback they draft, regardless of round, won't be on the team the next time they actually compete for a Super Bowl. They don't even have Quarterback figured out yet for F's sake, and they're gonna waste another 5th year option on a damn runningback? Spare me.

Call me crazy, but I don't think secondary is his expertise. Even though he was a secondary coach. Tomlin played WR in high school and college. I think he is good talking about what receivers do but because he didn't play the defensive back position he isn't good at developing it.

But his experience is why he is good at selecting WRs.

You're correct, but it also gives you some insight to why this team has always had glaring holes during Tomlin's tenure. He is a master of nothing..........like Bradshaw stated, he's a glorified Cheerleader. His greatest skill is staying around .500 when other coaches would have bottomed out.
