There's not coaching/structure/x's and o's to fall back on. There's no process to trust when you're struggling.

'Winging it' when you're struggling/pressing is not a good combo.

That's because the Ranger Book Of Fail Chapter 1, page 1 states as follows...

1- NEVER crash the net and dig for loose pucks.
2- ALWAYS curl boardside, outside of the dots and fade away from the net. Contact hurts.
3- Be pretty in all you do. It's Broadway baby!

his one-timer is 100% over rated and he lost his 'killer' goal scoring instinct over the past couple seasons at 5v5.

some coaching would be nice. He never puts himself in prime position to shoot and the way the play is setup is comical.

I think the problem is that the pp can't just adjust, you cant just blatantly telegraph that you are going to Mika all the time. Its why i prefer Tarasenko on pp1, he's a scoring threat from the right side, Panarin and Kane are passers and when you are set up in a way that a team knows what you are doing its over.

Tarasenko can and hasn't been here long enough to learn otherwise. That's why he has two goals in the slot this series.

Hot take: Kakko could. Never does, but could.

There are personnel holes, particularly with skating, but I still think there's something off about the way this team wants to do offense whether they can execute it or not.

I thought they were scary good this year. They just need to tighten up as a 5 man unit on the ice. Granted, I do get the benefit of living here so I may have some more hope than usual
