Hagelin might have been the worst Ranger on the ice tonight, but he still made a difference on the forecheck. That's what the team has lacked in the past two games. When someone has played poorly, they've continued that poor play. Hagelin turned it around.

No. You're just crying about how bad they are and point no goods out.

Are you kidding me? Look at the first post in this thread made by me. :shakehead

What a game by Girardi. I'm sure people will complain about his PK time. But he was hurt and came back and was integral in killing off the final few seconds there. He is so under-appreciated by the fanbase.

Also, Brian Boyle in these past two PO games.

Yeah, Hank had two iffy goals against him. The 3rd goal was just awful. He cannot have another game like tonight's in this series.

He also made a number of beauties. That he routinely makes these great saves masks that the fact that the Caps are getting more quality scoring chances more often than the Rangers are, and eventually some are going to go in. Hank is not the problem.

Yeah, scoring 4 goals and winning a playoff game does mean that we played good. Maybe not perfect, but good.

Tell you the truth, I'm not thinking about that right now. What I will say is that they showed a whole lot of intestinal fortitude and heart during this game and that's all that matters!

Oh, no. It was Callahan. Two Pejorative Slured penalties (one behind the play and one after a whistle), horrible play, and general sucky-ness for 58 minutes until his monster PK.

3 games gone, 3 games that could've easily gone either way. These are two evenly matched teams, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Win Wednesday.

20 seconds away from a bang bang play from Ribeiro to Ward to Backstrom for his 2nd of the night. By the grace of god that puck didn't go in somehow...net was wide open. Anyone catch the play?

Yes, I'm not sure how they flubbed that. My cat could have buried that.

I saw a guy in pond hockey get his entire front row of teeth get knocked out, and all he did was spit them into his palm.

So to suggest that Ovechkin getting clipped caused his legs to collapse and that's just "how the body reacts" is utter tripe.

Who says "only?" I have given specific examples of penalties that came off of hard play and forecheck. All you have done is say that our team sucked. I get that you want to take the easier route (be lazy and just yell about ****), but you should try being objective.

Oh jesus come on dude. Nash skates around the net and the goalie digs his stick into Nashs skates. Thats not some amazing play by Nash to draw a penalty. Brassard went to finish a check, something that happens a thousand times a game and Oleski lets his elbow fly

Thats dumb **** by the Caps. Its not like we were dominating possession and wearing them down and they took lazy tripping/hooking penalties trying to keep up.

Regardless the Caps still got the better of us 5 on 5 and created much more dangerous chances throughout. I don't even know how that can be debated. We need to be better, theres nothing wrong with that.

while disappointing that the puck didn't hit him, he's got to see the shot for me to think that he's given up a bad goal.

He never saw that 3rd goal.

Can't blame him for that

YES. They didn't give up and lay down. they brought it. Couple it with better D and steadier offense and we're lookin' at a series, cowboy.

Great to see Boyle back on the PK. Facing a team like the Caps in the playoffs really highlights how important those PK'ers are. He was great all around. Yay Brian Boyle!

Boyle is one of those guys that's built for the postseason I think.

Olesky's elbow was the result of a good forecheck by Brassard. Holtby's trip was the result of good forechecking by Nash. Shocking -- we forecheck well and we get penalties.

But no. Clearly our team ****ing sucks.

The Olesky elbow was just a dumb play the puck was already gone. The only Caps penalty that was a result of pressure was the Holtby penalty.

WOOSH. Completely missed the point. You missed it worse than Del Zotto shooting at the net.

The point is that our PPs came off of good 5-on-5 play and hard forechecking. Not that they were drawing penalties on purpose.

whats ridiculous is caps d kills us... our wingers stay high on them and limit there shots from the point we'll be in even better shape.. it was a great game, almost gave me a heart attack, but i enjoyed it.. rangers need more hunger and drive, but i thought they responded well and didnt panic when they were struggling.. game two weds, even bigger... I want clowe back!!!

True, I think you're right. Callahan looked off, seemingly due to frustration. It really made him standout in the wrong way tonight.

Hagelin had a few turnovers, gave up on plays along the half boards, and missed a lot of passes due to having his stick off the ice. Wasn't happy with neither he or Callahan's effort (never thought I'd say that) for the majority of the game.

I'm very happy with the win and I thought this was a very good playoff game.

That said, I am not satisfied because I think we could be doing a much better job.

Caps are a very good team and well coached. Lundqvist matches Ovie, other wise I think we have the edge in personnel. But it's close...

get it done

We need to clobber one of their forwards coming over the blue line
