This board is fickle. If we lost 5 4 this thread would be 500 posts long with people ranting.

I'm willing to give the rangers all the credit in the world when they actually deserve it, regardless of the scoreboard. Like game 1

Did the Caps get a shot at all on that last power play?

Four goals, and they were all good goals off good plays. No lucky bounces or seeing eye shots through a crowd.

Will Boyle and Asham score more goals in the playoffs than in the regular season?

I hope to god the rangers continue their approach on the pk with forcing ribeiro to beat you with his shot. He is constantly trying to pull the forward towards him to set green up for the shot.

1. Brass God
2. Lord Byron
3. Hank I guess lol

HM: Ash, Step, Moore, and Zucc. Thought he played well.

McDonagh and Girardi deserve a ****ing month of steak dinners after those plays at the end. Holy ****.

LGR!

Rangers were flat out awful.

Glad we won, but they never make it easy. Laughable how poor we were in the defensive zone.

Are you kidding me? give me some of the stuff you are taking to watch the game next time. The Caps were all over the place, seemed to be on a power play on 5V5

See! I'm not the only one who sees the flaws even in a win! This team is still a mess and needs to play better. If they play like that again, they're almost certain to lose 9 times out of 10.

Well, Staal and Dorsett are going to improve every game. Dorsett was noticeably better in his 2nd game. I don't know who gets scratched when Clowe rejoins the lineup (kind of depends on how banged up Powe is - we're losing a good PK guy). Rangers were much better 5-5 in the 3rd (and, it's a little surprising, Rangers were 3rd best in the league 5 vs. 5 in the regular season) after having huge trouble in the 1st and 2nd. Despite the huge negativity in these threads, we're in this series - especially if Nash, Richards, etc... get going.

Glad you learned to develop your reasoning skills as a child.

Scoring 4 goals does not mean we played well. Anyone who thinks that is flat out wrong.

Glad to see that you have not given a single shred of evidence for why we played so poorly.

We had some very good 5-on-5 moments since we scored two goals at ES and got all of our PPs from our pressure at ES.

So Ovechkin's line pinned us in the zone a few times. Guess what? That's going to happen. He's a SUPERSTAR player. When he's on his game, he can dominate at times. But the team didn't wilt or let him beat them.

Clearly they played horrible. You got me. :shakehead

I think you may have forgotten the sarcasm smiley, though. You couldn't possibly be serious.

Exactly. I won't disagree with anyone that says we played poorly at times 5-on-5. But the whole game? No. If anyone says that, than they just don't understand the game. If we played that poorly, we don't get those PPs. It's just that simple. You don't get PPs by being terrible 5-on-5.

The Rangers got the Caps off their game the entire night and profited from it. They need to do that again next game and for the rest of the series.

Agree with all of it. There were times where we got pinned and that sucks, but we have to overcome that. Find ways to prevent it from getting bad. (Stop collapsing all the time maybe? ;)) But overall the goals were solid and not crappy bouncers. They were legit. Keep giving them these fits and making them take bad penalties out of frustration or failure to keep up, and the Rangers look different. Also, I liked the tenacity that the offense had today. They seemed shot happy,.

It feels so good shutting them down after that flop + all the caps fans crying like little girls after every little thing.

I just might hate them more than devils fans, Seriously.

maybe for second place. penguin fans are by far the worst!

Lots of positives

1. Big W

2. Staal is back and the W will allow him some more time to get it all back

3. Brassard, Boyle, Moore, Asham all getting involved

4. Nash gets a big point and a playoff W - maybe he loosens up and starts playing like the elite talent he can be.

5. 4 goals

If "we ****ing sucked 5 on 5" we wouldn't have gotten all the powerplays. The only reason we got them was because we pressured them like crazy at times 5-on-5. So that theory holds no water. If we don't pressure them and play well, than we don't get the PPs, and we probably don't win the game.

Most of our power plays were results of Washington being stupid. Oleksy's elbow, Holtby's trip on Nash, and Ward's high stick were dumb. Ovechkin's roughing call was behind the play. The too many men is a lack of judgment. Washington had at least 7 or 8 extended shifts pressuring us in the defensive zone. We were not good 5 on 5.

My first ever GDT was a smashing success

We played phenomenal in the 3rd period imo, all because we changed our approach and stopped playing scared. For once in my life, the Rangers "listened" to me pretty much to a T.

You can be outplayed at ES and still get penalties.

Sure. 1 or 2 penalties. Not 6. Sorry, but that only happens by good pressure at ES. Period. End of story.

We had a very good half in the 1st, a very good half in the 2nd, and a complete period (for once) in the 3rd. Keep throwing water on the win. It's cute.

Regarding Staal: the important thing is he got his first game in. He's one of your top horses - and unlike Richards, he's coming off of injury, not in decline. You gotta play him, because if he adjusts, he can be a difference maker.
