Post-Game Talk: ECQF Game 3: WSH at New York Rangers - Swiss Cheese Neckbeard

Ovechkin has never had a care for his opponent's well being. It's sickening to watch. He has thrown so many high hits, knee on knee hits, and tried to run Hank today.

He will forever be known as a playoff choker.

He may be dirty, but that second part is just not true.

What a game... Hearts still pounding, but we won! Team looked way better than the last two games, still not perfect, but much improved. Wednesday another must win, go back to Washington 2-2 and I think we have a legit chance to win the series.

PP being better also a huge plus!

Clowe for Powe next game I guess? We need someone else on the wings to do something. Even if its just helping with some possession. Were spending way to much time at even strength holding on for dear life.

And moar Zucc

The refs called a good game. The Capitals were sloooow learners and kept calling their bluff and getting punished.
You could blame Oates on that a bit.

Ovie dived, but refs can make a mistake in not calling the dive, dives are rarely called. Richards made the wrong move on that.
**** you Ovie, your ruse fell through. Great kill at the end.

Again:

If "we ****ing sucked 5 on 5" we wouldn't have gotten all the powerplays. The only reason we got them was because we pressured them like crazy at times 5-on-5. So that theory holds no water. If we don't pressure them and play well, than we don't get the PPs, and we probably don't win the game.

Thank you for saying this. Not many understand that to get on the PP you have to be strong and we gave them fits to where they took bad penalties.

Did anyone else notice how close Backstrom was to getting his 2nd of the night with about 20 seconds to go??...that was a bang bang play where Ribeiro passed to Ward who one-touch passed it right across to Backstrom who had an OPEN net, but for some crazy reason, he didn't get his full stick on it! It was SO close!!! Thank god we hung on.

Are you kidding me? give me some of the stuff you are taking to watch the game next time. The Caps were all over the place, seemed to be on a power play on 5V5

Ovechkin's line had some sustained pressure. That is going to happen every game. Aside from that, we did fine 5-on-5. You, like Kershaw and some others, clearly don't understand that if we played so poorly 5-on-5 than we don't get those PPs. We had half periods were we did bad (2nd half of the 1st, 2nd half of the 2nd). But we played a very good 3rd and won the game.

...And I can breathe now.

In the DC area, so I had to suffer through the Caps broadcast. Man that one announcer with the nasaly voice just kills me. I didn't know that was a thing that they black out the NBCSN broadcast for the local one...

Anyway, good bounce back game. Sad to not see Clowe play and Powe get hurt, but glad the secondary scoring came through big in that game. Girardi was brutal on the first few PPs. Staal looked shaky out there... honestly, hate to say it, but I might prefer Eminger if Staal's vision is impacting his play that much. Glad the big guns finally got on the board at the end, but they need to be better. That simple.

And you could just ****ing tell that when the refs failed to call the borderline trip on Cally in the last few minutes that they would come RIGHT back and make some total BS call against the Rangers. Just ****ing scripted **** right there.

Chest is going to explode. Glad they pulled it out.

Dude, these announcers are killing me. I love how they were saying the Caps were due some power plays. Since when are team's owed power plays because they can't stay disciplined? The two of them are a couple of jackasses.

Rangers were flat out awful.

Glad we won, but they never make it easy. Laughable how poor we were in the defensive zone.

Disagree. Our goals were solid goals. Two were good bounces on the Caps side. Sometimes you the deflections get the better of a team. We played a sound game. Our support players came up big and then our big guns happened to show up to win the game.

Don't forget the pressure we put on the Caps. We drew, what, seven power plays? If we had a mediocre power play, the game would've been over in the second. Besides that, we played really well.

I think Power got a concussion. Didn't look like he could stand up after that hit.

Wow, no defenseman was on the ice for >25 min? Awesome.

If they can't figure out how to disrupt the Caps forecheck they're going to have serious problems. Can't let Green and Co. keep firing away like that.

My stars are Brassard, Zucc, and Henrik

So, Kreider in for Pyatt and then play like they did in the third and see what happens?

Staal didn't look good, but it was crazy to expect him to. Hopefully it is only up from here for him.

Richards still looks lost. I've defended him all season but we'd need to be crazy not to be worried about him right now.

And last but not least, Torts, please adjust the collapsing defense, at least when Green is on the ice. Take away his time and space and good things will happen. Please.

Keeping a level head. This team has that habit of building you up only to knock you the **** down

Team is still terrible though. This is 2011 series redux. Totally irrelevant at ES. Hope and pray for some more fortuitous bounces is only way we win this series.

both goals in the 3rd were scored at ES

while not happy with the pin job they allowed. you really can't say they were irrelevant when we get the third and 4th goals at ES.

Thank you for saying this. Not many understand that to get on the PP you have to be strong and we gave them fits to where they took bad penalties.

Exactly. I won't disagree with anyone that says we played poorly at times 5-on-5. But the whole game? No. If anyone says that, than they just don't understand the game. If we played that poorly, we don't get those PPs. It's just that simple. You don't get PPs by being terrible 5-on-5.

The Rangers got the Caps off their game the entire night and profited from it. They need to do that again next game and for the rest of the series.

You can be outplayed at ES and still get penalties.

they kept saying that the refs were lopsiding the power plays and it wasn't fair.

every one of the caps penalties were penalties. they could play more discipline hockey lol.
