From what I've gathered from Canucks fans, he is more or less another Torts.

Do not want. Especially with Babcock right there. I'd take another mans life for Babs. Possibly yours! :D

Whoa Bob too far haha I think he his similarities to torts are there but he tends to have more offensively potent teams (probably helps having the Sedins, Kesler, and others) but Babcock I would guess would rather stay in Michigan because I heard rumors University of Michigan were gonna try to get him to coach.

Dregar(sp?) tweeted he could be the successor

You really need a dominant physical specimen of a center that can play a 200 ft game or an insanely skilled #1C that can match up against top lines and still maintain puck possession hockey. Rangers have neither of those and those two are key to opening up puck possession hockey.

I think Steps can turn into be a very effective #1 center. Also, no, you don't necessarily need Sidney Crosby to run a puck possession system. You need a coach who can develop and nurture that system.

I can tell you step #1 is the mindset. Rangers can't be deferring the puck to the opposing team.

lol.

Kreider's PPG in AHL is less than that of Luke Adam's and Phil Varone. Not to mention being less productive than Ranger prospects Marek Hrivik and JT Miller.

Kreider is the problem, he is not a good hockey player. Another brawns over brain draft pick.

Lol all u want, u can believe he forgot how to play hockey if u want...

You're not alone Torts is of the same mold as Keenan. They would rather lose with their systems than humble themselves for a different approach. This guy over coaches. Every player is reduced to playing the same way. Zero creative process. Purely a motivator, no strategy whatsoever.

Not to mention, Kennan didn't run that team. Messier did.

LOL...and we matched them hit for hit...and maybe even a couple of more . Mind you they probably were not all bone crunchers or hurt me type ones...but heck...who tracks that stuff anyways ...I guess no one can call us a soft team ???

Yup...we own behind the nets...although we are somewhat weak in the front of the nets . Nash should be good for the next game...he only put out for one period today . He certainly is not a guy that could ever lead a team .

Richards , if he had any legs...might actually be dangerous...in the AHL . We looked like a team wanting to go home at times...no extra effort and why can't we shoot and get the puck on the net...the Caps always find a way ?

Do you guys really feel Torts will start off next season as our coach ??? ...or Sather as our GM ??? It must be frustrating for Hank...

Remember the 6-1 win over the Pens at the trade deadline? The new guys barely made it to MSG on time and were told to just go on the ice and play. We all know that the team on the ice that night looked nothing like the team we've become accustomed to seeing this season, including today. Torts in the post-game that night says "So much for coaching, huh?" He may have said it tongue-in-cheek, but I believe that comment says a lot more than Torts wants to believe. On another forum, a number of guys were making comments like "Just wait 'til Torts and his 'system' gets their claws into these guys. You'll never see that performance again." My biggest concern: we have one of the world's best goalies whose contract is up after next season. If a real contender offers him huge money, what is going to persuade him to stay here?

Fire Torts, Hire Tippett. Tippett comes in and we win a cup. Also Sather should have been canned a looooong time ago. I think when looking at the Rangers and seeing who owns them, you know where the true problem lies (James Dolan).

I'm not going to talk about firing the coach until such a time as we're actually eliminated.

It's rather poor form to not simply focus on the negative, but be utterly and completely persuaded by it before it actually happens.

Tippets a good coach. But he is basically a better version of Tom Renney. He is all about tricky defensive schemes and the such.

Honestly, I am not sure he is the answer. My first choice for coach is still Mike Babcock.

Yeh your right and i guess all the scouts from all the other teams are wrong because the first name that always comes up when we are trying to trade for someone is kreider not miller hrivik fasth Zuccarello. if kreider was given the same chance as Zuccarello he would be a much netter player. Hell i remember the prospect rating for Zuccarello before the season started was a f .

Babcock has stated his children are in school for 2 more years and he will stay there until they are done . He likely would move for the right kind of money...which is about all we can offer anybody .

Well, I actually been calling for Torts firing well before this series. I honestly didn't care about making the playoffs if we couldn't even get out of the first round. Its looking like thats probably going to happen.

Hell, the Caps haven't really even played a good game yet.

One more year. That is when his extension ends. Hell, he could even get released before that.

I'm aggravated because I had pretty much decided to write this lockout shortened season off when they went ahead and made the trade deadline deals and gave me hope.

I hate hope.

Because HF prospect ratings are based on if the player plays in the NHL.

There was lots of uncertainty because of his KHL contract.

Nah, not me. I saw all the systemic problems creep back in down the stretch. I started to face reality after that abysmal philly game.

Tort's game plan is just not good enough.

i dont think thats right because Zuccarello had already played in the nhl and there were others and still are others that don't have a f and play in leagues overseas.

So is your screen name like some kind of hipster sarcasm? :sarcasm:

I wish.

Believe it or not, I actually think the Rangers have a pretty good team personnel wise. Yeah they could use some tweaks(PP triggerman, Boyle being sent to Siberia etc).

I am not really down on the players as I am the coach. I have completely given up on him.

Again, the questions were, "would he come back to the NHL." Not can he play in the NHL.
