That was a lot of fun, let's savour it. Obviously it won't be this easy for the series. I don't care what they do with the goalie situation, it is a luxury to know you can switch goalies and still have better goaltending than the Leafs. I agree, rotating will not allow the Leafs to concentrate on one specific goalie.

The spacing between games is perfect, it gives our guys time to re-energize. Maroon was great, set the tone, and it sounds like he is great in the locker room. I keep thinking about those 3 rings, the guy has so much experience on how to win.

Domi is a complete waste of space, Brad played him perfectly and it cost the Leafs.

BTW, for those south of the border, there is a SportsNet SC commercial going on about 16 teams, etc....guess what? They don't show the Bruins AT ALL in that commercial, just 15 teams. They are that petty. We played it slowly and couldn't find the Bruins in it.

Well done, SportsNet - don’t put the Bruins in the commercial and that will make them go away. The Bruins OWN Toronto and you think that by sticking your heads in the sand and pretending they don’t exist, you won’t have to relive the trauma of being humiliated in three Game 7s?

Good for you, you soft, gutless, f***ing cowards.

Hopefully this year we will be resting for the next series after a 4-game sweep

Please start Ully in game two. Don't change anything from the regular season. Keep on rolling, treat these guys like they are nothing special.
Dear Monty,
The goalie rotation worked neat as a bow tie in 72. We even had a parade at the end.

Just in...

They were all over Pasta (as expected). Nice to see others score. Jesper B. made that first goal happen. Jake showed up.

Everyone played well.

Charlie Mac spent time in the third (on the bench) with the trainer. His hand was messed up and hurting. I hope all will be well. He kept playing so there is that.

Next game won't be easy!

Dirty Domi....He is a far bigger rat that Brad.
But he is so bad at it

Sway stole the game. Laffs don’t really have a heavy forecheck at all. Gryz will be fine all series. Shattenkirk looks a little suspect playing his off side with Peeke. But we need him for PP, so would Peeke come out? And Wotherspoon in? They seem to think Peeke can kill penalties, which I’m not convinced of yet. The Laffs 4 on 3 had to score if they wanted a chance. But Sway! They were missing Nylander.
The first D-man you replace if you are looking to insert Wotherspoon , IMO is Gryz. he is simply to soft for playoff hockey and it shows. his play did not impact the score in a negative way ,but it is only one game

You must have had a great few of Maroon putting Lilgren into the bench.

Playoff randoms:

Refreshing to see the Bruins be the hammer. Marchand will own Domi as long as Max the clown wants to keep coming back for more. Peeke’s feistiness is not something I’d really been expecting when he was first signed. I’ve made it clear that I don’t like Maroon but if he keeps doing his job in playing the body, imposing himself and making his teammates feel that little bit taller, then at least I’ll have no complaints. Lauko cuffing Liljegren when he was hanging over the Bruins’ bench was hilarious. Don’t let up.

Great to see Pasta clean-shaven for the start of the playoffs. Says he’s here for the long haul and the team needs to stick around at least long enough for him to earn and grow a new beard. Few other guys looked the same. Good little message.

Beecher was excellent. From the early goal to the desperation puck clear in the last minute or so, he was engaged and active all game. Great introduction to the playoffs. This type of hockey should really suit him.

On goalies I’d rotate to Ullmark for G2, simply because it works and they’ve both fully earned net time. But if they stay with Sway I’d get it, he was brilliant. Don’t think he stole the game but he never gave the Leafs a sniff of getting into it. Bottom line is I don’t think it matters – two excellent goaltenders who will give you every chance, and when/if the Bruins do find themselves losing a game, the odds on it being due to the netminding are miniscule.

Steve Dangle in his series preview made the good point that coaching is going to be a key factor in this series. And as Steve himself knows, unless Monty has another panic attack there is next to zero chance that he gets out-coached by Keefe. He’s the better tactician, he’s dialled in, is the man in charge in a way he perhaps wasn’t last year. Should continue to be an important advantage for us, especially when the Bs have last change.

That was not a playoff effort from Toronto. Had some decent patches, but the required intensity and commitment just weren’t there. If you go back to 2019, the Bruins weren’t ready in G1 of that first round, but they raised their game pretty quickly. This Leafs team at least in theory is capable of being a lot better both in terms of execution and compete level. Who knows what they’ll bring, but Boston needs to be ready for a response in G2.

I think Monty has the D pairs right for the Leafs. Lindholm-McAvoy make a great pairing but you spread the talent better if you can split them up. Hampus with Carlo gives that pair more mobility, while Gryz has always complemented Charlie well and there’s not much need to worry about Gryz getting hemmed in by the opponent’s top forwards because Toronto don’t play a heavy enough game for it to become an issue. Peeke-Shatty is perhaps a little bit of an odd and comparatively unknown combo, but you can shelter them from Matthews et al. and the Leafs’ bottom 6 is not a major threat. Shattenkirk can be a little bit of an adventure but his offensive skills are handy when he’s on song, so you can wear that, at least to a point. If it becomes a problem then Wotherspoon presents as a fine alternative.

Here is a prime example of why I hate the Toronto media

Chris Johnston wrote

It was a drab grey building for 20 years but not today unless you are judging the building coming in on the Zakim.....

The Toronto media hates the TD Garden elevator that services Level 9 and that is fair as it is the worst in the NHL.

TD Garden was electric tonight which will NEVER happen at Scotiabank Arena. For the most part, fans attending games in Toronto get their tickets from their employer and are told to behave.

Toronto has a live organist but he sounds like he is a computer file

Over my many years, I have found Montreal fans respected the Bruins and their fans.......that is NOT the case in Toronto.

We have a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go in this series.

I was surprised that Dangle elected to watch NESN instead of Sportsnet.

My Older brother and I used to go to Montreal for Bruins games once a year for 6 years straight from 2002-2008, we would where our Bruins jerseys and was treated awesome, even at the "clubs" on St. Catherine street! It was awesome!
