Bruins seem to have a difficult time getting shots from the point on the net .

When that happens I'm surprised they don't resort to the high tip more. It's worked for them in the past.

So go back to the same lineup...for game 2?
Sit Grz again?

Should the Bruins continue to start Ullmark or continue the rotation?

If Gryz was going to play, I think he'd have been a more obvious start at home than on the road

They both expected Bob to get the start last night and given how soft Lyon was on the Marchand goal, I agree with them. That said, Maurice sounds like he's going to ride Lyon.
Or, that's what he wants the B's to think. So many head games this time of year. Either way, the Bruins still have a couple of gears that they didn't use last night. If they start to click the way they can it's going to be tough for any goalie/defense to contain them.

Hopefully we rotate our goalies like we have for the majority of the year, at least for the first few series.
With Ullmark likely not 100% (maybe 90%;)) it'd be a wise move.

As the game went on our 4th line got more physical which was great to see.

The play of the night though was clearly Bertuzzi.

The shear balls and nuttiness of doing that were outrageously hilarious. I don't think NESN caught/showed it though.

Frederic missed some nice chances yesterday. Robbed twice on the 2 on 1. Nice work/passes by Hall.

If Bergy returns for game 2. Freddy sits. I wonder who drops to the 3rd line. Bertuzzi or Zacha?

I was watching a video on YouTube where they interview NHL players while they're on the ice with them. This one player ( I can't remember who it was) said that Carlo is the toughest defenseman that he plays against because of his reach etc. He really got the point across that he doesn't look forward to games against him in particular.

Pierre Luc Dubois talking about Carlo being the hardest D in the league to play against

Glad he didnt play. Panthers laid out some heavy hits yesterday.

haha stay away from the advanced stats thread today.

But I agree. Every game Gryz sits this series is adding 3 months to the duration of his career. Think the average Florida forward has nearly 20 lbs on him. Been since St Louis and NYI that we've been playoff hockey this violent. Don't see it often!

The headgames have commenced

It was Pierre Luc-DuBois. And the fact that I knew that instantly from memory tells me I may have some issues.

I know he has his detractors, but I really want him to be a lifer.

He’s everything you need in a defensive defenseman, plus he had an uptick in offense this year as well IMO.

Btw what do we think Marchand weighs? NHL.com says 176. He looks thicker than that?

He’s really small in person, I’d personally believe that. At most he walks around at 185.

I use ESPN + during the regular season. I didn't think they carried the playoffs on plus. I signed up for Sling TV. They carry all the networks that carry the playoffs.
I'm beyond pissed about that. What's the point of paying for the streaming channel if it doesn't cover whatever is on you OWN TV network? Same story as Paramount and Paramount+. Gotta cancel ESPN+ now. Will re-subscribe in October.

Hall-Coyle-Zacha for when Bergy gets back
Hall can't be serving up one timers to Frederic. Zacha has the speed and shot. Hall had a blank stare on the bench after Frederic's missses. Can't serve em up better than that.
Bertuzzi has played so well they’re almost forced to keep sending him out there on top line assignments. Their depth is just disgusting and it opens up so many plug n play options for three scoring lines.

It was abysmal in the Dallas game as well. Wild got away with as much or more against Dallas than FLA did against Boston. Fortunately Boston won, but Dallas lost in 2OT. Wild are smart -- commit tons of infractions, knowing that only a small pct will be called. TB has made a living of that over the years. Bs might as well do the same since it appears most refs are going to call playoff games where the penalties even out.
My big thing is chinsy calls and player safety.
About 5 years the league said they're trying to crack down on cross-checking out of the game and hitting from behind.
That's all we see now. Constantly.

But then last night McAvoy joins a scrum and pushed a guy from behind who then dramatically falls. Tweet!!! Two minutes!!!!

Later in the game Dumbass grabs Bertuzzi by the shoulder and twists him to the ice awkwardly in front of the net. No call.

When the NHL starts talking about player safety and how they are making strides....I generally reach for a #2 Philips screwdriver and jam it into my temple.
