Hopefully we rotate our goalies like we have for the majority of the year, at least for the first few series.
With Ullmark likely not 100% (maybe 90%;)) it'd be a wise move.

As the game went on our 4th line got more physical which was great to see.

The play of the night though was clearly Bertuzzi.

It's funny how there are times I watch Coyle casually carry the puck from the blue line down the wall to the corner, slowly around the net and up the other wall, and nothing ever comes of it. It frustrates me to no end. Then there are times where he does it 2, 3x in a single shift and still nothing comes of it and I realize how frustrating it must be to chase this guy all night. It also helps when the other 4 guys on the ice make a charge to open space while Coyle is stirring the play.

He could do the same thing 10x a game and I'll go from hating him for doing nothing, to singing his praises for his puck protection and waiting for a play to open up.

I'm probably Charlie's biggest fan here and even I get frustrated with him at times with the way he just carries the puck around without seeming to do anything with it so I'm not surprised that other people get ticked off at him when he does this too.

Right now he's 2019 playoff Charlie plus he has really stepped up in the leadership department. He had a great game last night & I look forward to more of the same in future games.

A testament to how good he is! Can you think of a better goalie ANYWHERE that you you rather have?

No.

We have the best goaltending tandem in the entire NHL. If Ullmark couldn't go last night or can't go in the future I have equal confidence in Swayman to get the job done. On most teams there is a clear separation between their #1 and #2 goaltenders. We have a 1A and a 1B and even better there's no tension between them over who gets to start or who gets the most minutes in net.

The officiating was the usual playoff standard.
I like using the word atrocious.

Orlov getting slashed in the hands twice in the 3rd period...no call.

Goodass taking for whatever reason a swing as Charlie's head, missed then fell on his ass (because he has the skating skills of a plant) just prior to the disallowed Hathaway goal.

-Bertuzzi was the best player on the ice IMO,
-Zacha held up his end of the bargain as well.
-Forbort did his job along with Clifton, good to see but feel for Grizz
-Coyle and the penalty kill was tremendous
-none of this matters unless Ullmark continues his incredible work
-Lindholm struggled with the puck based on what I could see, McAvoy too sometimes
-Credit to Florida, they outshot and outplayed the B's for swaths of the first two periods
-Loved the lockdown, choke out work done in the third period though

Great post, sums it up nicely.

Seems that Ullmark's game is being overlooked as the most important part of this win.

It really is an amazing situation. I have no idea how Don Sweeney and the scouting department managed to pull this off by getting those two.

The cross checking call on Charlie might have been the lamest call I have seen in a playoff game.

It was abysmal in the Dallas game as well. Wild got away with as much or more against Dallas than FLA did against Boston. Fortunately Boston won, but Dallas lost in 2OT. Wild are smart -- commit tons of infractions, knowing that only a small pct will be called. TB has made a living of that over the years. Bs might as well do the same since it appears most refs are going to call playoff games where the penalties even out.

Bruins didn’t look great or even good until the 3rd but were still up.

I don’t think this series is over at all—reminds me a ton of last year vs the Hurricanes. Felt very frustrated watching Bs try to transition into the offensive zone all night.

But in typical Bs fashion, even if they’re getting outplayed a lot they are able to out execute.

Cats seemed to be pressuring our dmen out high, stifling shots from the point and preventing movement which was largely effective. Got a few really high quality rushes from that strategy too. Curious to see how Monty responds.

Good win, hopefully they only get better from here with folks returning to the line up and people recovering from whatever illness is going around.

Highlights of the night for me were Ullmark, Coyle, Bert and Hathaway.

Would be fun to see some domination in Florida!

Go Bs!

I don't think the Bruins looked great, but I don't think they looked awful either. There were a lot of missed/broken up passes. Florida was aggressive in getting in the passing lanes and pinching their defense, but overall, the Panthers played like a team that knew they were outmatched. They were trying a ton of stretch/home run passes, they were obstructing and interfering where they could and they were throwing everything they could at the net trying to get a lucky bounce.

The Bruins, when they set up, play with purpose. Most every shot and pass has an idea behind it instead of just looking for some puck luck. The Bruins also did a great job in playing their game. They played physical, but didn't get sucked into the after the whistle garbage. I think younger Bruins teams would have absolutely let that game turn into a gong show. Much more wise and composed team last night.

I thought the D struggled with transitioning out of their own end but played tough on the body around Ullmark and gave him clean looks to make saves. They protected the house.

Forbort played fine for his first game in weeks; had a couple of turnovers but overall I thought he kept it simple and was effective in his role. I think it's telling what they think of him when he was out there in the final minute to help protect the lead.

There will be a time soon where they need Grz's speed and puck moving/puck retrieval ability to step in, but last night they decided to roll with Forbort's size and IMO it was needed for this game.

Lindholm had some nice rushes but I thought he didn't have his A game, nor did McAvoy, who was credited with 8 hits last night.

Orlov, I expect more from and that turnover last night was a big brain fart.

Carlo was a steady eddy and I thought was the best Bruins defender on D all night. If he plays like that every game moving forward, Bruins will be in good shape.

Outside of a couple of nice hits, I didn't notice Clifton much when he was out there and he played the least amount of minutes of all the D.

Do we actually know Forbort playing was coach's choice rather than Grzelcyk being ill or hurt?

No idea if he is dealing with something that prevented him from suiting up, but I did hear he was labeled as a healthy scratch last night as opposed to out because of injury/illness like Bergeron.
