Played below average first 2 periods and the game was never in doubt. Once this group gets whatever is ailing them out of their systems look out!

...from the GDT @Johnny4778

You posted this. I have no control the fans at the Garden. The Bs will soon be used to the pressure.

I do wish they didn't chant "we want the cup" this early but they don't care.

"TD Garden fans need not put pressure on team. Media all playing the president trophy shit.

@Alicat
@Ladyfan

Make an announcement please
I thought the same. Cant we just do a "let's go Bruins" chant?
They know we want the cup. Lotta work left for them to be clamoring for it this early!

I'm going to start off by saying that prior to the game, I think that *most* of us, myself included, focused too much on who wasn't playing or might not play, and not enough on who actually did play.

Obviously, Pastranak; Marchand; and DeBrusk were huge as was Ullmark. Big game from him. The defensemen and the overall play in the Bruins' end was really what decided the game. There was a battle for every loose puck and the Bruins won most of those battles. The tide had turned to the Bruins' favor in the third period and Florida just didn't have enough to break through. I loved the chemistry between Taylor Hall and Trent Frederic, and on the whole Krejci line.

A solid win against a relentless opponent.

Can't wait for Wednesday night.
Did not think 88 played well .... and Marchand had a good third that is it. Regarding Debrusk, very good net hustle and awareness on his goal, but overall he will play better. I thought that Zacha line was not playing that well in the first two but came out very well in the third.

Who do you sit when Bergy is back? I'd sit Foligno. I thought Hathaway, Nosek, and Freddy all played great. Freddy didn't bury but he had a bunch of chances and was effective. Foligno was pretty meh, barely noticed him.

He's not going to like it, but yeah for now it's Figgy. Freddy probably could have scored 2 goals if not for Lyon.

I didn't think they could sit Figgy, but he needs more time. That said I don't think Bergy will go in game 2 either.

Only if you share the same toilet. The virus shreds, or could shred for 2 weeks. Majority of people who come down with it are okay after a few days.

As long as they disinfect, wash their hands, etc you're pretty much good. It just makes you weak and dehydrated. Obviously the Bruins staff are equipped better than us regular folks so I'm sure he's got stuff to take to not be nauseous or poop anymore.

The weakness is the worse. Crazy thing is, the virus wouldn't exist if people washed their hands after going to the bathroom and handling food. So simple.

I thought Hall was pretty meh,his first game back
Lyons made some nice saves but bruins "better" not make it so easy moving forward. He was cheating on all 2 on 1 breakaways.
I thought Hall was really telegraphing his passes to Freddy ,he really needs to start shooting more.

Carlo is so damn good

It really baffles me that some can’t see how valuable he is

Some folks are still scarred from how bad he was last year when he was recovering from concussion, and let's not sugar coat it, he really wasn't himself during that time. Others will never warm to him as he is perceived to be too passive. I can sympathize with the latter especially - I would like to see a little more fire in his game as he's more than big enough to effectively impose himself physically on others - but I put that to one side and simply acknowledge just how good he's been this season as the Bruins' leading, dependable shutdown defender and how great it's been to see him bounce back to and beyond his old self. Carlo still has the very occasional brain fade, but I can wear that. The vast majority of the time, he's a rock.

Must’ve been depressing for Panthers fans going down 3-1, surely no contending team would blow that lead…

I think going for the record paid dividends here. We know how to win weird.

I feel like Carlo likely felt constant anxiety playing under Bruce, and it wasn’t conducive to his game at all.

Regarding Pastranak; Marchand; and DeBrusk, what I meant by those guys being "huge" was that they scored goals. I'm not going to argue with you that all three can; should; and will play better, but strictly in terms of last night's game, those goals were big. That's really all I meant by that.

Overall, the Bruins played their best hockey in the third period - per usual, but thankfully didn't wait until then to take the lead.

I don't pretend to know more than most people here - because I don't - but I think Zacha had a case of the jitters filling in for Bergeron. That is my guess as to why he took 40 minutes to snap into it.

The Panthers play till the echo of the horn. I don't think the Bruins will take them lightly on Wednesday. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how both teams will adjust. Hopefully the Bruins jump out early and play from ahead just like last night.

man do I hope Bergy is ok, guy has played through so much, is this really the flu or me being totally paranoid?

Either way, good start to the series

Coyle was one of the top stars yet again.

Bruins weather Florida's absolute best in the 1st period which was largely volume shooting and hunting hits.

The veteran experience showed itself and the Bruins had command by the 3rd.
Charlie Coyle is one of the leaders on this team , he does a lot of what is needed to be a champion. I ask did he earn his contract last night . Taylor Hall much the same former #1 pick , MVP , and playing on the 3rd line , backchecking his ass off last night and has been . I just wish Freddy put one home last night that would have completed that lines nights work.......

I’m with you on this. Supposedly zacha knew he was starting the morning of the game. Combine that with seeing bergy in the locker room, I wonder if it is an injury and not the illness. Though I also could be paranoid haha

He got robbed by the cheating goalie but like it was said last night by Pederson or Jaffe, gotta elevate that puck more.

Yup, that and giving the Bronx cheer to Lyon was dumb. Don't give the other guys a rallying point ffs!
It is the playoffs all the band wagon fans can afford those tickets but don't really know how to be fans...............

I hate the chanting of the goalie's name this early and WWTC shouldn't be heard until the P of W trophy is won. Sounds like a lot of pregaming and pink hats, plus it being a school vacation week and people are just nuts about the playoffs finally starting.

Florida played pretty much how I expected, and the physicality definitely seemed to catch the B's offguard, especially when the refs decided to let it all go, like the initial high stick on Marchy. The literal tackling of B's players was kind of crazy. But the B's picked up their checking as well, Cliffy was very noticeable. Ullmark played great even though he didn't look well at all. You can tell Marchand has learned from Bergy how to do these post game interviews, giving very general, nonspecific answers, credit to the other team, never a hint of any real problems, just that "we have things to work on".
