I will say that until they decided to punt the two third period PP's, they were starting to take advantage of some sloppy Montreal neutral zone play. They just didn't capitalize on any of the opportunities they created.

Couturier was a beast tonight. A dog on the puck.

Sanheim & Myers are carrying our blueline.

Carter was Carter.

Free TK from Hayes, please. I've seen enough.

Thompson & Grant are a disgrace as expected.

Laughts was also a disgrace. I'll be expecting much publicity of those facts from the mainstream Flyers media. Hell, Morgan Frost had a bad practice and Meltzer Tweeted about it. What does 75 turnovers by Scott Laughton get?

Stizz, he overcame the adversity of being sent down to the AHL. And he tries. Every night, he tries. What more do you want?!?!

I want to be positive, and it's not about style points in elimination games. But the Flyers game plan was to basically make the game as low event as humanly possible -- although Scott Laughton didn't get the memo -- and grind their way from an early 1 goal lead. Rely on the Couturier line, one defense pair (Sanheim-Myers), and goaltending. Against the 12th place team in the East. That's a strategy a team does because they LACK the talent advantage, not because they're the 1st seed.

Canadiens were a hair and a post off today. The Flyers did everything in their power, at evens and special teams, to not run away with the game. They probably beat the Canadiens this series, as they should. But these just aren't inspiring wins for a team that wants to go deeper. There's enough in this tape to not take this win for granted, but I smell a whiff of confirmation bias coming from tomorrow's coaching meeting too.
They're playing scared in this series, for whatever reason, but I don't expect that against anyone else but, coincidentally, the Isles (their probable next opponent if they win).

They're not using a strategy that screams success long term, but I don't think they play this way vs most other opponents.

That game really was exhausting.

Tuesday's game is going to be massive with the next game being Wednesday.

If you win, you're going to get Carey Price likely on a B2B to finish them off. If you lose, you're going to probably have Brian Elliott in net to start a best of three series.

The only difference between the other night and tonight is 4 posts by montreal instead of them going in. They played just as bad as the other night. I have no idea why, but they just cannot get going. Maybe its Montreal's style, I dunno. but this isnt the team that went 3-0 in the round robin

Come on now, they weren’t remotely as bad as Game 2. Let’s get real here, we were better in every single facet tonight... except the PP.

I disagree.. COuts worked hard, drove the net and took punishment was good on PK.
The rest need to step up. I am worried about Giroux performance you would think after losing 5:0 the way we did he would make adjustments I mean this is playoffs. I also thought TK tried. He did not have the best game but he was with the puck a few times.
True on Couts. I am just saying the Flyers probably cannot go much longer with those two lines producing so little.

Happy with the win. No complaining out of me, but they’re going to need to find another gear to make a real run.

The Niskanen conversation has to happen soon. I’d like to give him time to play himself out of it, but margins are so small. It would be a lot easier to give him more space up 3-1, so here’s hoping.

I saw a defenseman who played it simple instead of getting exposed each and every time he's on the ice. When Ghost has the puck in the corner my heartrate is comparable to a breakaway on Bryz. What was he, minus-5 last game?

What? Ghost is vastly better with the puck. He gets it up ice. Hagg singlehandedly trapped them in their own end for two shifts when he elected to fling the puck past Braun for no reason, straight to the Habs. He wasn't even under pressure. That pairing is noticeably ineffective with Ghost out.

Unpopular opinion but it's according to my eyes.

This game was fuc*ing boring, yeah, we weren't good, we can be better and we should be better, yeah.
But we weren't worse than Habs overally. This game was just about battles around boards and we were fifty-fifty there. It was about defense mistakes and if we don't count Laughton's turnovers, we were very solid around Hart.

xGF overally: PHI 1.9 - MTL 1.58

But yeah, our lines and PP must be fixed for game 4.

Carter! Hart!

I’m with you. The lines, some personnel, and PP need to be addressed. But as far as a boring game? Sorry not sorry. Muck up the neutral zone and don’t make a lot of forced turnovers. That’s how you stop a speedy team. I like their approach and hope they do the same next game. This is what wins against fast teams looks like for a team like the flyers.

You really don't get that the problem isn't effort? Really?

The problem is trash players, trash roster construction, trash coaching, and things going exactly as predicted.
The Habs didn't have the same energy tonight as they did in Game 2. If they did, they would have walked all over the Flyers today.

It was a pretty easy, boring game for both teams, unlike Game 2 where the Habs had an extra gear.

Still waiting for that extra Flyers gear...
