Millbury needs to stop making sense and go back to defending head shots.

Love the buzz of the crowd. Would hate to lise that back drop of sound. Also anything that drowns out that creepy dude Pierre is fine by me. Hes an idiot.

Nash is drawing the attention of both defensemen.

Consequently, he needs to pass the puck more. When he has it and cuts in, both dmen pinch inside to stop him. Sticks, then body. A well timed drop pass could be huge.

If Nash can get the puck to Richards or Zuccarello in space off the rush, Washington may go into scramble mode and lose assignments. That will open up one of the defensemen for a potential chance near the top of the circle.

an early crossbar away from taking the lead. I thought we played pretty well. Still a bit loose in the D zone and we need to tighten up on the OV line, but there were some good chances in there

Yeah pretty much. Would like to see a little more offensive pressure.

However everyone...remember Nash hasn't looked 100% for a while. We never got an explanation about him being 'banged up' a couple months ago. Not using this as an excuse, but it could be a nagging injury that we have no idea about.

I would hope its not an attitude thing about not wanting to try/hustle 100%.

The Rangers are playing fine and Nash will come around. The caps are playing well as well. Now relax and LGR!!!!!!!!

Hate to say it, but Nash did absolutley nothing that period to make him worth what we gave up for him and what we're paying him. He just looks lost.

Decent period overall, we let it get away from us the last 5 minutes or so, but hopefully we come out with a solid effort in the 2nd and score a goal or two.

Oh, and if I could roundly cuff the heads of all the self-important imbeciles pounding on the glass...

The powerplay units are not configured well. Not sure Callahan or Girardi should be on first unt. I can only remember Zooks MDZ and Brass on 2nd unit.

This is the playoffs, what are you "fans" expecting? Most games are won by a goal around the league. You think if we're not up by 4 goals that the whole team sucks. Bunch of drama queens.

Nash is running into the same problems Gabby did last year -- He's the only offensive threat in a Rangers uniform, and every one on the other team knows it. That was sort of the entire point of bringing him with Gaborik.

Nash is playing slow. I don't know if it's because he's just playing a little sub-par or it's because he's hurt. There's no explosiveness.

Kinda sad when the 5 foot 5 guy who probably weighs 60 pounds less than you is by far the most physical person on that line. Nash and Richards compliment each others softness.

It's not so much about the score, but the way the team is playing. They should be dominating possession ES and took the least penalties in the league, but they've been very undisciplined and play down to the Caps level on ES. Those were our two key points for a series victory and they're sucking at it (so far).

This thread is pathetic. Might as well go to the Caps board if all we're going to do is crap all over the Rangers.

This period is exactly what I expected the series to look like. Both teams have decent possession, washington has better scoring chances. The Rangers aren't going to win by trading quality chances with these guys.

Disagree completely.

You can trade shots with the Caps 5v5. They don't have a great D. If the Rangers commit to the offense they can beat the Caps. They just have to stay disciplined.

Right now, Rangers D isn't really containing them all that much. Caps are still penetrating on their breakouts and getting plenty of chances.

The Rangers game plan isn't even all that great for a defensive approach. Rangers would be way better off trapping the hell out of the caps and counter attacking through the neutral zone.

Instead, the Rangers are playing their left wing lock, and allowing the Caps speed through the NZ. So I don't see any type of advantage of running that D scheme. Lock is great if the Rangers are harassing caps with their forecheck. But, they aren't.

I completely agree. Seen it last game too. He could use all their attention to the team's advantage, if he adjusts tactics.

As others have said, it's not only the "buzz" of a bandwagon fanbase, it's a lot of people with less self-control than my soon to be five year old with the banging on the glass.

True, I guess anything can happen in the playoffs.

Nash definitely needs to pass more.. He made a great pass to DZ in the period but no goal. Still a good play.

This.
