That turned ugly. We lost our composure to say the least.

Second goal Hansey stays too long on PK.
Fourth goal Rielly should have stopped in front of the net.
Kadri rattled through other means (his teammates getting abused). If he doesn't do anything, we'll say heartless no one does anything. If he does, he is going to probably get suspended now.

PK was very bad for the first two.

Johnsson needs to play. His speed and his game was missed tonight. To me Plek or Leo needs to sit. Both of them cannot be on the same line.

Our team relies on getting more scoring chances than the opposition and, with how lopsided the chances were this game, it is more than likely we're getting a better performance game 2. (that, and the difference in PP minutes)

I saw 3-4 angles of that offside right away, and none of them looked like offside. If he saw the same, I understand why he didn't challenge and potentially give a unit that just scored another chance.


Yeah. He showed way too much trust in that fourth line, and it cost us. Plekanec in particular was absolutely brutal. Defensive specialist who had the positioning of a rookie.

I'm one of the biggest Komarov fans you'll find, but enough is enough. The man has 3 PP points with regular minutes on the #3 PP in the league. When's the last time you've seen Komarov do something actually useful on the PP that a generic AHL player wouldn't have been able to do? All I've seen from him is the occasional shot into some shinpads, he's not even playing a netfront role where he might actually be useful. No need to shake things up on the first PP, but if it's not getting the job done, try something new.

I'd be lenient on the offside call if it was a one-off thing, but he's been noticeably timid about them on several obvious ones this season. If the video guy isn't getting the evidence fast enough, buy some time before puck-drop or get a new video guy.

Plekanec is just inexcusable. It's like Babcock's going off reputation instead of what he's actually shown. He's gone in the summer, there's no sense playing him out of respect or future contract negotiations. Moore at least has some offense to his game, even if they both suck defensively and take stupid penalties. Better yet, get Komarov off the wing and have him play center. Johnsson-Komarov-Kapanen would be an actually competent 4th line.

Rielly/Hainsey had a real tough time but its partly due to home ice/line matching.

I got excited when I saw JVR get crosschecked in the face in the first period, I was thinking that a pissed off JVR in a contract year should finally wake him up like the 2013 series or that one run with the Flyers. Instead, he just wilted.

Well if you replace Komarov on the powerplay with him...then yeah he might just make some of those guys score.

Lol, that's just Babcock being Babcock. In that point, yes I agree, Johnsson is 100 x better than Komo, but we have more than capable players to run the powerplay than Komo that were playing tonight.

Johnsson is still a rookie, and didn't get enough time during the year. He's a high risk, Komo is a safer player in Babcock's eye...no idea why he is a safe player on the PP though, but whatever. Only so much to complain about.

That's where I give him the slack because that failed clear was late in his shift.

Anyways guys, it was fun chatting, I love/hate playoff time. I trust Babcock, he is a world class coach. I will panic more if we are down 0-2...hopefully a full rage doesn't happen Saturday.

- get more defensive
- be more aggressive
- star players need to wake the **** up
- start hitting players
- stop letting rookies outclass veterans (mcavoy vs rielly)
- be aggressive like kadri, but not stupid like kadri...be in between
- bury your chances (speaking to you Bozak and Marner)

I didn't mind the sandpaper Leo brought but Plekanec brings nothing. Johnsson absolutely needs to be in.

One player who looks like you might want to upgrade on is Connor Brown. Nice touch, good hustle, good smarts and a solid player in general but he's quite vanilla, doesn't give you explosive speed, doesn't give you wingspan, doesn't give you a ton of physicality, isn't particularly productive.

The aforementioned players all can perform at better ceilings as we've seen previously. If you will, Proven...is the word.

Komorov has been like this all season long... Anchoring down Kadri's line, and now the 4th line...Johnsson is just a very Tangible upgrade.
Instant Speed and puck handles to accompany a mirror image in Kappanen.

If we lose out on some D ( Rookie ), oh well, we got Leo for the PK and the Bruins scored on all of them. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don’t think it’s THE answer, but can be part of it.

Leafs will need to try to exploit the lower lines to pot goals for them if they want to win games because the Bruins top lines and top D are focused in on the Leafs best two lines.

but we had chances all night, it reminded me of the game (ironically) we lost against boston, and that other game i can't remember - they were doing everything but hitting the net. babcock came out and said we have to simplfy the game (and we did and went on a little streak after that).

like i don't want it to make it sound like i am meh, Johnsson can't help. i've said i like that 4th line with him but if he's in we still lose,quite frankly, and putting it all on Komarov is not fair.

the more the play is pushed into the opponents end... the more our scoring lines are put out.... giving more opportunities for them to score. the more the play is pushed into the opponents end, the more exhausted the other team becomes, giving potential on the fly or icing scoring opportunities. that, to me, is 100x more hurt than an inconsequential body check to which you could shout "what's the corsi rating for that?!"

so... yes... having actual hockey players on the 4th line is kind of important.
