8 meetings this season and if you take empty netters out, 7 out of 8 have been 1 goal games (and the only one that wasn't had an unlucky own goal in the 3rd). All close games but the Rangers still don't have a regulation win against the Panthers.

I know regulation or OT doesn't matter at this time of the year, but that's a lot of games to not be able to put a team away and a pretty good indicator in itself that the Panthers are a tough matchup for this team.

Like, it's close, but at the same time, the difference is clear.

And yet, here they still are 2 wins away from walking to the finals. They won 2 in a row in this series and it can happen again, but it's the Panthers series to lose now for sure.

To say another team that makes the SC finals doesn't have a chance is crazy. All these teams are super close. Out of the four left I do agree Florida should be the slight favourite but hockey is a game of inches and bounces

Everyone said the same thing about VAN/EDM vs DAL/COL and here we're in a very even series and I likely wouldn't be out of line saying Edmonton has been slightly better in the first 4 games vs DAL
Being a fan of none of the teams in the POs and having no horse in the race, I've watched every game I could, and that includes all the van/edm matches.

There's no doubt in my mind that McDavid is a multigenerational talent of which extremely rarely have we seen. Beyond him, Drain and the legendary run Hyman is on, the Oilers have done fine for themselves. Had key players on Van not been out of the lineup, things might have ended up differently but that's neither here nor there.

I also am of the opinion that if Edm had Ottinger in net and Dallas had Skinner, this series would have already been over. The Stars are probs a bit overrated because of how good their goaltending has been. They can't score. So the game they play is mostly collapsing in front (spectacularly well at that) and rarely pressing an advantage (prob why their first periods have sucked all year).

Rangers are kind of very similar to Dallas. Their stars have all but disappeared and there's very little scoring. Their D collapses in front and Shesterkin has been lights out. Without him, they'd have been out in 4.

The Panthers have at least 2 things that are vastly superior to the Oil: goaltending and depth at scoring.

Edm obv has the best 1-2 punch in McD and Drai but seem to struggle scoring 5 v 5. Panthers are likely to take more penalties due to playing more on the edge so that's where Edm could capitalize.

But all things equal, Panthers should take this. Hopefully in an epic 7 games duel.

TL:DR
Dallas is overrated
Skinner sucks
Panthers win

Wanted to add the Habs made the finals and didn't end up standing a chance vs TB and no one said different. I don't see how this is any different.

What you’re saying is that if a goalie manages to slow down the puck but not enough to prevent it from crossing the line it’s not a legit goal?

I don’t disagree. Someone needs to tell Shesterkin to please let pucks go in cleanly so that fans can see some legitimate scoring.

Every single one of those goals is "legit" or they would not have counted. Doesnt matter if they are lucky or not.

FoxyCope. It doesn't matter how they go in, your "non-legit" goals are still the reflection of the Rangers getting absolutely caved in their own zone while being vastly out chanced. Better play=more chances=bounces that go in the net.

Shesterkin is the only reason this series is even still happening.

I believe that Igor should win the Conn Smythe no matter how the rest of the playoffs go for the Rangers. Dude is playing at an insane level.

You rarely beat a goalie the quality of Vasy, Swayman, or Shesty clean, that is why we crash the net and screen on every chance we can, flybyes and waiting for perfect tictactoe opportunities is why smaller skilled teams lose in the playoffs if the opposing team has a competent goalie.

We played that way and consistently got handed our lunches in the Atlantic, the Rangers aren't far off, but the mentality is the difference in the series, not the goal quality.

Shesterkin has been lights out, the forwards and D not so much. He is the only reason the series didn't end tonight.

you do realize that winning the cup has a lot to do with getting the bounces to go in by creating these chances. Ignoring the 3 "OWN" goals you have listed everything else is hockey. the comical part is when you say it hits igors pad and bounces in. Does he just get to say Do Over? its hockey. he was shitty on that play then. So if 3 OWN goals in your words are whats separating the rangers from winning and losing than they dont deserve to win anyway.

Yeah, it's basically TV audiences who don't get how big an 18000 seat arena is.
Lol I've been to both BAC and PNC. There was a ton of 'blue shirts' in the lower bowl (from what you can see on TV most often..) Panthers fans are quiet too, it's a shame. But if you're saying I was basing my numbers off what you could see in the lower bowl.. that's no 15%

Hell the favorite son of South Florida, the MIami Dolphins barely ever sees less than 15-20 % opposition fans. It's called demographic shifts.

I salute the diehard fans of Florida. But I feel bad the team doesn't see the same support as essentially every other team.. thats all.

Course there may be a red navy and gold bandwagoning surge after all their success, winning cup or not. Theyve shown something. So that's good news for them.

This is pretty objectively not true. I'd say it's about 85-15.
It's observably true, based on looks and sounds 'over' tube. And considering my southern team just played the rags, and there were about 15% observable (and tangible) based on word of mouth anyway.. Blue shirts. To say it's comparable to in Raleigh would be patently absurd

But the Rags home fans are about as bad, so that makes it more even 🤣

Course this isn't a 'who has more fans' match. So with FLA up 3-2 now it's actually enjoyable getting to see how many Rags are going to be crying soon.
