I am not sure it is that easy to change your approach after playing your style since October. Especially when the games are every other day and there is essentially no practice.

Also, Florida did not completely carry the play in games 1 and 2. That was just a games 3 and 4 thing.

I'm not expecting them to play like a different team, but there are certainly adjustments that could be made to help them deal with Florida's style in general and their forecheck in particular. But you don't tend to see many adjustments unless there is a big loss. Tight games tend to make the teams think they just need to execute better.

I honestly suspect the high would carry me through a decade. It's hard not to feel like I'm personally cursed.
In 2019, I saw Liverpool win the Champions League. Liverpool and the Rangers are like my co-#1.

Five years later, I still don't have the words. I probably never will. Imagine me being speechless. You guys know I like to talk.

I'm gonna be 33 next month. I've lived a solid life. I've had some fun. I graduated with an MA. If you asked me what the defining moment of my life is, I would simply say "2019."

It's everything. It's better than you imagine.

All of that being said, I would very happily saw off a limb for another one.

Forwards can't score if the puck doesn't leave their defensive zone. It's not their fault that they have so little time with the puck in the offensive zone.
True. But It's not just dmen that are responsible for getting the puck out of the zone. And forwards are more responsible for O zone entry which is also necessary to score.
Mika's poor play in OT that led to Wheeler's penalty is a prime example.

Also, that summer, I bought a little replica Champions Leauge trophy and I took that thing everywhere.

It was my summer with the cup. We went on tour to every spot in the city that means something to me. I took it to Madison Square Garden. I think @Raspewtin was there for that.

You better believe I'm doing that with the Stanley Cup. I can't wait, someday, to document my Stanley Cup tour on here.

Of course I know that. I'm not one to ever suggest the announcers hate my team. I'm a broadcaster myself. But in terms of overall coverage from a production standpoint it seems to slant more towards showcasing Florida.

And watch the last two game winning goals. McDonough was really amped for the Florida goal in Game 4 in comparison to how he called Wennberg's winner.
Could be they don't feel NYR, with their huge national and international following actually NEED showcasing... It's still frustrating though.

I am talking specifically about McDonagh. That is the argument I made; no reason to assume I am taking other sides here in regards to the league/officiating etc.. McDonagh announces like he's a member of the Panther's home broadcast. It bothers me. The radio and TV feeds aren't 100% in sync, so it's really annoying to have them both on at the same time. Again, if it's going to be a neutral broadcast, BE NEUTRAL. And I didn't even touch of Ferraro.

I don't think the refs and league are anti-NYR. I think they tend to be anti who they think is the worst team. I have said it throughout the playoffs; you get the calls if you play the way the refs think good teams play. So if you are cycling for minutes (even if you are generating nothing a la Carolina) the refs are going to reward you for hard work by calling a softy that THEY WOULDN'T CALL YOU ON because, again, you work hard, the other team doesn't. It is not anti Rangers, it's anti the way the Rangers play. Look at all the interference and tripping Florida did last in game 4, no calls because Florida controlled the play for most of the period. It is about optics with these guys. Maybe it's human nature, I don't know, but the Rangers and Panthers change sweaters, and play the same exact game, then it would be the Rangers sweaters getting the power plays. Not about the team, about game management.

So, this is what I talked about in a previous post.

If the refs are calling the game a certain way, it is incumbent upon the Rangers coaching staff to get the Rangers to do the same things. If they don't lay the blame at their feet.

I didn't realize you were only singling out one announcer. Maybe he's biased. I have no idea.

Lets just play all 3 periods like the 1st period of last game.

The tough thing is the Panthers play a tough, dirty physical game but dont seem to take penalties. Yet we get penalized a lot and in the last 3 games the Panthers have 5 goals on 12 power plays. I think the refs are out to get us but it could be I'm imagining it.

They've taken out of commission Vesey and hurt Lindgren without being penalized. I really hope we hit them super hard but when they have the puck and not in the head. Then maybe we can match that dirty hard hitting game but not get penalties either. Because that Panther pp is bad news for us.

And I really wish Kreider, Mika, and Artemi could get a spark and recapture their magic, score some goals. Without them and getting help from our other clutch guys like Laffy and Goodrow its not impossible but its an uphill battle.

Im really hoping Lavi has some good ideas to increase our puck possession and up our level of physicality and improve our defense.

Lets Go Rangers.
They were the most penalized team in the league this year and it wasn't close. The officiating in this series has been abysmal. Refs just pick and choose what they call. They have gotten away with so much it's disgraceful.. Just call a penalty when it's a damn penalty.

Panarin and Zibanejad were very good the first two rounds.

Panarin has been good in this series. Like, full stop.

Zibanejad has been terrible in this series but should also probably have a handful of goals. He's been robbed at least three times that I can remember, twice in game 4.

I think it's fair to say that Kreider has had a very quiet playoffs outside of that one massive game.
Panarin has been "good," but is one primary and two secondary assists in four games good ENOUGH from our 120 point 11.6mil winger? IMO NO. Yes comparing him to his teammates he's been fine. He's been good. But he needs to do MORE.

I was drinking Bitburgers games 3 and 4 and the result was bad. Tonight, Im switching back to Maine Lunch IPA, which I drank in games 1,2 and the Carolina series.
Maine Lunch is great. I have 2 Little Whaleboats at home. I love Mean Old Tom and A Tiny Beautiful Something but I don't ever find them down here in NJ.

Been drinking a local brewery Icarus's Yacht Juice and it's served me well. Didn't have it for games 2 or 4 though. Not sure what to do tonight....

I can see that. I think a lot of the production elements have slanted more towards Florida. They're getting a lot more highlight packages. More stat graphics. Steve Levy will often times lead with Florida at the start of intermission even though we have the lead. In Game 3 at the start of OT they just talked about the Rangers goals, but they showed the Florida goals that got the game to OT. I'd like to think it's not intentional.

Am I wrong ?

Even in game 3 Panthers had fewer high danger chances than NYR. I don't care as much about zone time or "attempted shots" or even actual SOG in the context of it meaning you deserve to win. Obviously the only stat that matters at the end of the day is the final score, but high danger chances will tell you what your team actually DID with zone time, possession, etc. If you don't use it to get high danger chances/goals it's moot in a sense. Game 4 is the only one where FL out dangerous-chanced us. And a goalie bailing you out doesn't mean you deserved to lose... the goalie is a team member, just like centers and dmen, not some random luck factor. The goalie playing well is part of the TEAM playing well.

People really seem to lose sight of and minimize this goalie is a part of the team factor.

All teams have roster and organizational strengths and weaknesses. One of the NYR master areas, for a long time running, is goaltending.

Anyone who thinks Hank into Igor is a fluke, or a team strength to minimize, is on crack.

Other franchises would kill to have two Vezina and HOF-caliber goalies back-to-back.
