Rigged. Influenced. Whatever word you want to use, it's happening and the officials are the primary instrument. Refs blowing the whistles in the NBA without having a call ready (looking at you Scott Foster). The way this series has been called between the Rangers and Panthers has been despicable honestly. And how about the Mets pitcher getting ejected (and subsequently losing his job) yesterday by the 3rd base ump for *reasons*. I don't even need an example for the NFL at this point they are too numerous to count. I cant wait to take a long break from sports watching after the Rangers win this Cup.

I don't care about sports or any of the teams. I was at the 1986 World Series game 7. Mookie Wilson and Keith Hernandez didn't invite me to any of their barbecues haha.

I am concussed now with other injuries. My wife and two small kids are the ones taking care of me. That's my team.

Sports for me are an occasional means of entertainment. Nothing more. I have as much fun shooting the shit with people here (sans the unbearable negativity after losses) or elsewhere about the teams than I do watching the games.

But my family is my team, not a bunch of athletes I don't care about and will never know.

That is a good outlook to have. Im leaning in that direction. I'm married and have a mortgage, the inorganic outcomes of sports seem more and more trivial by the game.

We dominated Carolina in inside slot chances while McDonaugh was going on and on about shot attempts.

I've never been into analytics. It wasn't even aware of them until I joined Twitter in 2013 that I started seeing them. I don't really care either. I just watch the games. I hope my team wins. I'll be disappointed if they don't. Analytics just seems to make it all so much more granular for me.

It's worthwhile in the regular season to kind of know where to dial your hopes and dreams.

At this point, you just win.

Unless the game is unwatchable and you don't need the analytics to tell you 3 and 4 were unwatchable.

I really expected the play in this series to be more back and forth than it has been so far. Momentum would swing one way for a while, and then swing the other. But the Rangers have been unable to play their game and get the momentum in their favor except for short bursts. Florida has almost entirely carried the play. But because the games have been so tight, the Rangers seem to be more focused on executing better rather than changing their approach.

IIRC aren't you a Rangers, Knicks, Mets, and Jets fan?

Guilty as charged. But I considered myself a "sports" fan until recently. I went to college to be in sports management. But, the only team that gives me any joy anymore is the Rangers. Everything else is fake and dumb.

I am not sure it is that easy to change your approach after playing your style since October. Especially when the games are every other day and there is essentially no practice.

Also, Florida did not completely carry the play in games 1 and 2. That was just a games 3 and 4 thing.

Please play Jones.

So sick of our D settling for chips off the glass because they can't beat Florida's F2 on the breakout. We need more mobility out there to physically skate the puck into the neutral zone. Edmonton just showed us that you can make a swap, shuffle the pairs, and win a game. Laviolette, I hope you watched.

Math Bowl 2024:

EdJovanovski - Can't add.

Paul Maurice - Claims the analytics were in his favor game 2.

PK Subban - Says the Rangers should be losing 4-0 in a game in which they've already scored.

Choose your fighter.

Game 1 PK Subban was incredible. After the first period he was ranting about it could’ve been 4-0 without Igor after what might have been the least interesting period in nhl playoffs history.

20 minutes of two teams avoiding eye contact with each other and PK was acting like Igor channeled 1986 Roy lmao.

Well, it's worth it.

I know it feels fake, and dumb, and a waste of time a lot. But winning a championship is unspeakable. Everything you've been through, you would happily do it twice.

I hard disagree with people who say they would be content with one. That off-season after is a drug. You're gonna keep chasing it every year after.

But it's worth it. You deserve it.

I'm just out here trying to collect my remaining infinity stones. We have so many people on this board where they've either never won one, or the Rangers are it. I want it to happen for them.

Oh look the Trouba thread on the mains didn't get shut down after Game 4.

Color me f***ing shocked.

This place is a joke.

I honestly suspect the high would carry me through a decade. It's hard not to feel like I'm personally cursed.

Kozari and O’Rourke tonight, they paired up for Game 1 of this series
The Rangers are 3-1 this postseason under Kozari, including both series-winning games. Florida is 1-1.
The Rangers are 0-2 this postseason when O’Rourke is working; the Panthers are 2-0.

Im sure the refs will be the story once again after this huge Game 5

Hard disagree with the notion that we should have been swept.

As much as games 3 and 4 were discouraging and a bit embarrassing, we deserved to win both of the first two games.

Florida generated nothing in those games.
Even in game 3 Panthers had fewer high danger chances than NYR. I don't care as much about zone time or "attempted shots" or even actual SOG in the context of it meaning you deserve to win. Obviously the only stat that matters at the end of the day is the final score, but high danger chances will tell you what your team actually DID with zone time, possession, etc. If you don't use it to get high danger chances/goals it's moot in a sense. Game 4 is the only one where FL out dangerous-chanced us. And a goalie bailing you out doesn't mean you deserved to lose... the goalie is a team member, just like centers and dmen, not some random luck factor. The goalie playing well is part of the TEAM playing well.
