So if a Habs player, let's say Gallagher, goes hard at Lundqvist, and gets tripped up and "accidentally" hits him....he won't get called for goaltender interference? Yeah, right.

Will Rangers fans be so forgiving if Gallagher makes contact with Lundqvist? Not on your life....but yet, that's the way he plays.

I cooled down a bit. Let's focus on the game and win it. Miracles happen.

However - on the favourite topic - is there an analogy we could have with the NFL and the hits on the QB ? It's kinda similar - some players would take the risk of a penalty for the extra tackle and injuring the QB is always seen as a victory there. And then they blame the OLine - "they should have stopped us".

Then the League, seeing how the loss of a QB equals loss of starpower and income went with extreme harsh penalty for any unjustified QB tackling. Regardless of speed, weight and being pushed - if you hit the QB without the ball or under a certain height - punishment.

My call would be then for much stricter rules - it is your responsibility to avoid the goalie - you hit him you're out. Would lower the crease fighting most likely and maybe the physicality of the game but... helmet to helmet tackling in the NFL were big selling points yet they cut them. For a good reason.

hopefully they consider something like this...they're just sitting ducks in the crease.

if there was a 2 minute penalty for no injury, 5 if they have to leave the game...you better believe forwards will think twice about what they're doing on the ice.

That's it? I can think of 3 hits way worse than that off the top of my head from Pacioretty. Those are weak hits against weak players.

All this intentional hit talk coming from the fans and montreal journalists make me ashamed to root for this team.

Yeah it sucks that Price is hurt but blame that dumb**** Emelin, not Kreider.
Please go back to the Rangers board.
Plenty of them blaming Emelin.

There's a reason why it's Tokarsky and not Budaj in nets, the Habs brass sees something in him. He played like 1 or two games this season and one was a shutout. I personally feel much more confident with him in nets than Boods. The way I see it Tokarsky either lets in 0 goals or 5 while Budaj is guaranteed to let in a few. Risk reward I like it.

Reverse the roles and each team is saying the opposite of what they are saying now.

That's just how sports fandom works.

Honestly, thank you man. I was all for you guys, I hate Boston. And if not for the Rangers, I'd love to see Canada get a cup. But this is really souring me to Canadiens fans.

He is trying to score, he gets his right foot slashed so hard Emelin's stick whips, and then gets slashed on a recently broken hand. And history? Yes he has a history of being VERY fast and driving the net. And you see what happens when you don't respect his speed.

He could have just as easily been injured, or Price could have been fine and its not an issue. I mean the head coach of the Habs had no problem with it until Price couldn't go for the rest of the series.

Out of all the story lines its sad this is the one fans attach too, but I guess its the only one where its "the other guys" to be mad at.

How about the fact the Canadiens clearly didn't respect the Rangers, or even seem to realize we have as much if not more individual speed on this team. Or the fact that Price was still in, but then taken out for non-health reasons. But the coach instantly said no there is no chance leaving him in harmed it further.

Honestly I'd rather beat you guys with Price in goal. And we lost our top lines center, because its a very physical sport.

Subban will step up tonight. We didn't talk about him enough lately.

Canadiens are half-way along the path to Glory and the Stanley Cup.

There is Opportunity to win the only hardware that counts, new fans, plenty of respect.

Beat TB = expected
Beat Boston = Major Upset
Beat NYR w/o Price = Few Expect It
Beat Chicago to win the Cup = Super Major Upset

Would be the sweetest Cup win since the 75-76 dismantling of Philly

Believe, my friends.

best post i read in a long time. Thanks to make a little sun shines in my face.

Bournival out? Yep....we don't need his speed....how stupid is that.

I understand that Bournival is fast and he forechecks like a madman but he has one point in eleven games. Not sure what everybody is getting their panties in a bunch for.

I'm getting a weird sense of optimism for tonight.
I might be getting sick.

this team is way better more talented and more battle tested than team that folded last year after eller's hit + game 4 ref-job. i expect habs to play well tonight

TB: Sweep 4-0!
BOS: Best team in the NHL this year
NYR: Without our best player
CHI: Last Cup winners

If we get past New York, we're heading to the SC final with an incredible playoffs parcourt.

The thing I would hate the most would be a staged fight at the beginning, to shut up the people. Like Cooke had after the hit on Savard. Pointless, stupid and gives the illusion he "paid his dues".

I have a gut feeling that it will be Subban who will beat Kreider. With hits, checks and who knows, maybe a fight. Subban is a passionate guy and Price was his good friend. He is also the leader of the team and will not let a matter of this importance to a White or Prust.

Kinda like the Iginla - Lecavalier a while ago.

Or maybe he'll beat them with a few well placed laser shots from the blue line :) Even better.

Look for a 6'3" 230 lbs player, not Gallagher who gets a lot of goalie interference when the D-men is giving him doucle-check in the back.
More like Eller, Paciorretty, Emelin.
Bring McCarron to go crash the net...
Add De La Rose to the line-up.

May be we should swallow and give it back to Lundqvist in one or two years...

The rule for protecting QBs, also the rule about defenseless receivers... I made a similar point in the 1st Game 2 thread.

If the NHL took years to do something about headshots, imagine how long it'll take for doing something about goalies being ran by idiots.

I hope Price goes in the room before the game and gives a big speech and fires them up and they never look back.
