Does anyone in this thread understand what a NTC/NMC is and that any player of ANY significance has one and would sooner drink a milkshake with rat poison and broken glass before accepting a move to the Sabres?

This is the excuse is Sabreland. No one will come to Buffalo. Amazing how Winnipeg doesn't cry about this. Buffalo is a fine city. It's GM Adams job to sell the town.

Yeah, your picks are too high. I think Coleman is worth a 1st and 2nd, but from a playoff team. Picks around that 20 to 30th mark. Buffalo does need to address the "veteran starch" component, but probably not at that cost. Eventually though they need to turn some of those picks and prospects into players that help you win though.
For sure don't disagree at all. I'm curious what you view your timeline of "rebuilding" if you want to call it that is? Is it a re-tool? In some ways kind of has to be with Hubs, Weegar, Andersson, Kadri, Coleman, Backlund being your key players. If so then a guy like Rosen who likely could step in today and contribute some should hold higher value than a future 1st and second from a late round contender. If it's a rebuild and several years of true development is the priority then maybe shop for that 1st and 2nd from a better team than the Sabres.

Hey! It's an Abbott's milkshake with strychnine washed down with a Genny cream ale for some of us. And we came out stronger and.....no we didn't

What I think should happen is very different than what I think will happen. I'd like a full rebuild. We have one player I think is likely a star in Wolf. We have Zary, Parekh and Brzustewicz who I think will be impact players. We have Pospisil who can be a high end 3rd liner. There's no #1 center here, maybe not even a #2 center. There are no 1st line wingers here. There's no 1st pairing 2 way defenseman here.

I don't think we get those pieces retooling. The guy I drool about is coming in 2027. I think he has potential to be the best player in NHL history and his dad was a Flame and he's from Calgary.

I don't think the Sabres are looking to trade Cozens just because he has hit a dry spell recently leads the team in shots with 27....just have to get him going he can't even finish on an empty net lately.

I know many Sabres fans aren't happy with Cozens currently. But he still intrigues me since he's a very skilled and fast player who's also an RHC. I'm curious about his value and whether the Sabres would be willing to move him to the Flames.
Adams wouldn't sell low on Cozens.

Why are Sabres fans upset with Cozens?

Is it his fault the Sabres are institutionally rotten?

Kadri has a no-movement clause in his contract, running through 2025-26. In 2026-27, it becomes a modified no-trade clause where he names 13 teams that he won't go to. In other words, he’s not going to be part this proposed trade unless he wants to be part of it.

The rotten institution handed him a giant contract that he didn’t deserve and turned him into an anchor.

Frankly, I think they thought he would develop some man strength when they signed him, and so far, it hasn’t happened. He can’t stay on his skates, loses more battles then you want, and just generally gets outmuscled. He doesn’t play a good 2 way game, and if you can’t defend well, you better have some offense. But the offense has disappeared. He was signed to be a good 2C, but over the last year, he just looks like a young player who hopes he can stay in the league.

7y 7 mil in the middle of a year where he put up a 30/30 season? Do you see what kind of contracts have gone to young players who have proven less just this offseason? It's pretty ridiculous to say he didn't deserve it.

time to "earn" it is the more constructive way everyone should be viewing it. He was given a letter correct? Gut check time. I have faith though.

In a larger trade, forward and D for forward and D for example, I think Cozens and Kadri makes sense. However, I think Cozens would bring back a more valuable player (Andersson or Weegar) and Kadri would bring back a less valuable player (Byram or Jokiharju). This isn't to say that the deal would just be 2 players for 2 players. One team or the other could be adding a pick or prospect or both for the value to make sense, but from a roster perspective, I can't see Buffalo being interested in Kadri being the main roster piece coming back in a Cozens deal.
Cozens does not have the value to bring back a top pairing d-man, no one is going to trade a top pairing d-man for a 2nd line center, who can't score and who should be a winger making 7.5. Mittelstadt was different cos well he's better than Cozens, I'd even argue a Kadri for Cozens swap would be fair just based on the fact that Cozens has sucked for the last year

Cozens=Girgensons?

Good rookie season, fell off a cliff, can’t stay on his skates…hmm

Lol no. Girgensons topped out at 30 points, which he hit all of 1 time, and it was because he was playing on the top line because we had basically 0 NHL caliber centers. Cozens has bested that every single full season he’s played, and his best season to date more than doubled it. They’re not even in the same ballpark of offensive talent.
