Watching more of his interviews, I keep getting a Linden vibe from him as he handles the press.

Looking at the bright side, if there is one, atleast it happened during the start of the off season and he wont miss much regular season playing time. Wishing the best on his recovery.

No surprise given his recovery time (or Krebs' recovery time either). It'll be interesting to see if McMichael runs with this opportunity. The Nats always have so many options, it'll be interesting to see if anyone gets displaced in all of this.

Dumb question, does signing him to an ELC mean he’s not going to play NCAA?

He's already playing major junior in Canada which makes him ineligible for the NCAA.

Why not sign all major junior Canadian players in the first couple rounds to deals right away? If the deal doesn't start until the player is a pro, what is the downside?

Usually teams wanted to make sure that the player is worth the contract. It's starting to shift toward more first rounders in general getting deals earlier (Björnfot in LA as an example). The miss rate on second rounders is still pretty high as well.

How many second rounders don't get contracts? I can't think of the last 2nd rounder from the Sabres that didn't get an ELC.
